Eerily reminiscent of when Brendan Rodgers was sacked a couple of months into the 2015/16 season. Really he should’ve been gone that summer but Fenway Sports waited for their man until the October international (think it was the one where we beat Germany). He was also sacked after a creditable away draw. Will INEOS be brave enough to admit their mistake and follow Fenway’s example?
Even the recruitment is virtually a mirror image. INEOS recruiting Ugarte against Ten Hag’s wishes could prove similar to Fenway doing the same with Bobby Firmino and Rodgers. Both owners afforded some leniency to the incumbent manager to sign their own player too. For Christian Benteke read Ten Hag being allowed the opportunity to sign De Ligt this summer. They need a charismatic German with a penchant for high pressing football. Or maybe the Danish version Thomas Frank.
He also played a lovely style of football too and didnt get the back in the transfer market like klopp did repeatedly. So you could nearly mark him up.
If you ignore Klopp winning the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, two league cups, the FA Cup and having a 60%+ win ratio compared to 50% then they’re basically the same alright.
