Manchester United est. 1878, Season 2015/2016

Heā€™s everything Thierry Henry could have been.

Top of the league.

Workmanlike win over an appalling Sunderland side. First league goals of the season for Memphis and Rooney.

Big Tony M impressive again, wonderful assist for the Rooney goal. Should have had a second assist after playing in Memphis for a gilt edged chance in the second half.

Job done ahead of two big games in the next week.

Who is Big Tony M mate ?

I flicked this on for half an hour before the start of the rugby. Manchester United really do look a very ordinary side.

Van Gaal exposed as a complete fucking bluffer with his ā€œamazedā€ comments after the game. Up against the paciest team in the EPL and he has the geriatric Carrick and fat crocked German in the center of the park with the fat Rooney ahead of them. A bunch of fullbacks who can attack but canā€™t defend and fucking headless chicken Blind at center back. The best bit though was his response at the half, bringing Fellaini on to provide the creative spark from midfield.

Decent couple of days what a player martial is going to be. Smalling playing really well now.

Looking a bit stronger at the back with Jones partnering Smalling.

Big Tony M is a gem. He should be playing through the middle though. Rooney is finished, legs are gone.

Completely gone. Done as a top level player. Mata and depay to come in for Rooney and lingard who looked on last night.

Lingard looked lively last night, good pace. Donā€™t think heā€™ll keep his place for Sunday though.

Rooney is a LVG favourite, sooner or later heā€™ll have to bite the bullet and drop him. The pace, power and drive has totally disappeared. Fergie knew when he tried to ditch him. One away league goal in 11 months ffs. Offers practically no threat to defenders these days. Been a great player for united but time to get rid. Only hope is if Everton or the MLS come in for him.

If you go back in history, United rarely keep a striker beyond the age of 30. Van Persie was a Van Gaal favourite as well. He had no problem getting rid of him.

Youā€™re going way back with that example balbec

good observation

Van Nistelrooy
Cantona
Andy Cole
Dwight Yorke
Louis Sahaā€¦

all jettisioned or retired at 30.

Probably because there was a rapid decline in their form with the exception of Van Nistlerooy who was sold due to other reasons not age-related.

the statement is still correct.

Ferguson signed Larsson, Owen and Sheringham in their 30s. Solskjaer didnā€™t leave until his mid 30s.

That counters the argument that strikers in their 30s are despatched without thought. Itā€™s mainly down to form and not age.

its not my argument pal.

he said rarely keep.

you stated they acquired Sheringham and Larsson in their 30s.

one can say it is down to form and not age but latter is the reasoning for the former.

I could continue pedantic but i dont watch a whole lot of soccer.

He signed Larson for 4 weeks on emergency loan. Owen was the fourth choice striker. Heā€™s talking about first choice strikers.

Did he mention first choice strikers?
