Manchester United FC 2013/14
One of the worst performances from United in years last night. As bad as Lille away around the time Keane was booted out or the title decider with city a couple of years ago when Kompany scored.

Had played relatively well against Palace. 4-2-3-1, passed it and looked decent enough. The only change for last night should have been Kagawa for Mata. Instead he completely fucked the team around, reverting to a flat 4-4-2 with Young, Cleverley and Valencia ffs. Biggest game of the season and he selects those three. Januzaj has been our best player this season and he was not even on the bench, rested even though we don’t have another game for another 11 days. Totally clueless.

Have lurched from one disaster to another since last May. You could make allowances if he had shown a lot of the deadwood the door, had brought in some exciting youngsters and was trying to implement a new style. However awful results have coincided with awful performances. The only tactic is get it to the byline and pull it back or lump it into the box. 81 crosses v Fulham at home. Play the worst football of any side in the top half, and probably in the league generally.

He picked a negative team last night to nick a 0-0 or scrape a win. That’s ok at Everton but this is Manchester United. Got some great attacking players but they are rarely utilised. The players look totally demoralised. The lack of fight, spirit and graft last night was shameful, irrespective of who the manager is. Only maybe Vidic and Evra can say they worked hard and gave their all.

I feel for Moyes, a decent man but managing United in this day and age you need to be a ruthless, arrogant, bullying tyrant. He doesn’t have it in him. It’s all very well saying “back the manager” but at what stage do you say enough is enough. Look at Hodgson and Dalglish (2nd time) at Liverpool - going nowhere and deservedly sacked. Going places under Rodgers now.

Keep thinking we’ve hit rock bottom and then the next week we out do it. West Brom, Sunderland, Fulham, Swansea, Newcastle and Everton - it goes on and on. Doesn’t show any sign of abating. A parting of the ways in the summer looks inevitable now. He won’t get rid of the deadwood (he played them in the biggest game of the season last night!) and I genuinely think if he signed Messi or Ronaldo he wouldn’t know how to fit them into the side. The job looks too big for him. Neville, Round and Jimmy Lumsden to prepare world class players at training ffs. Took a gamble and it hasn’t worked out. Fergie shouldn’t have had any say in his successor. Bending over to facilitate Rooney was weak management too and is bound to have an affect on the dressing room.
Why do you have to be a ruthless arrogant bullying tyrant? Rodgers is managing a big club and seems a relatively alright fella.

No one makes it to the top without being ruthless. Ask @Fitzy

Moyes is a bully, he’s just a small time bully though.

Remember the time he bitched about Everton losing the Champs league place after the glory of Istanbul? Said there would be trouble on the streets. Small fry.

He’ll probably tog off and do the warm up with the team before the return leg. Like that time he nearly got Everton relegated.

Moyes is a hero to many. Let him get on with the job.

The job of what?

I hope Man United stick with Moyes. It would be a shame to see a great club like Manchester United turn into a soulless and heartless Man City type of mercenary club.

the one he is being well paid to do

More entertainment from friend of the forum Raymond Verheijen tonight on twitter. I completely agree with him that it was utter madness for Manchester United to shell out £300k per week on Rooney and make him “the main man”. He’s inconsistent, fat and he plays in either Mata’s or Van Persie’s best position. Not to mention how pandering to someone who made several attempts to leave will affect other players’ morale, especially Van Persie who pretty much won the league for them on his own last season.

Are you new here?

Top quality come back.

You seem shocked?

What has he won so far? Didn’t he get sacked by Reading?

He looks like coming 4th this season. Plays good football and done a decent job this season (helped by no European distractions and having one of the best strikers in the world). When he has won multiple trophies we can revisit this debate.

Sturridge is good but I wouldn’t put him in that bracket yet

+1
best English striker by a mile tho.

2nd highest goals to minutes played ratio in Europe this season-better than Ronaldo and Messi. Bump that thread where I called him the best striker in the EPL a year ago there, pal.

He wasn’t the best striker in the premiership a year so and he still isn’t now

Who is top, pal? Destro was leading the charts before the weekend at a goal every 76 minutes but an unfortunate piece of luck which defied the laws of physics prevented his marvelous effort from holding onto that feat. I would still imagine Destro is the most clinical player from open play in Europe this season given all the goals he has scored have been from general play.
