Manchester United FC 2013/14

De Gea

Smalling Vidic Ferdinand Evra

Valencia Carrick Cleverley Young

Rooney Van Persie.

Laughable how shit that midfield is. Olympiakos have only lose twice at home in four years or something ridiculous like that. Could be a rough night - again.

Poor Shinji :frowning:

Moyes’ luck deserts him.

You don’t deserve luck after picking a side like that. Moyes bottled it and went for a side to get a 0-0. He places limits on teams and sets them up not to lose instead of to win. Worked at Everton but not at United.

Sounds like he is from the Neil Lemon School of Management.

Moyes will get the boot if they knocked out.

It’s worrying alright… Let’s hope they get through and put up a resilient fight against Barca/Munich etc in a semi but lose. It may be enough to keep him on for another year.

Seriously- With the probability of no CL football next year and the revenus it generates- Can Utd afford to sack Moyes and pay out 20m?(could be higher/lower I just plucked that out of the air but i think he is on just over 5m a year) They are going to have to bring in 4-6 players next year if they want to be back where they were and challenging and they’ve just given Shrek 300k a week also. There is no way the Glaziers are going to sanction all of that surely? If they do sack him will the new man only have scope for 1/2 signings and a few low ball loans/trades? He will surely be given the summer to try and rebuild?

That post is a bit all over the place, mate but I will try to address your points. Firstly, regardless of what it will cost, we have to get rid of Moyes. People will say he should be given time, took Fergie 3 years, etc and they have a point to an extent but the bottom line is Moyes was never the right man for the job in the first place. To put a manager who has never won a trophy and done nothing of note apart from getting a mid-table club to finish mid-table most seasons, in charge of one of the biggest clubs in the world was crazy and it has backfired spectacularly. We have regressed further than even the most hardcore fans of one of my other clubs could have ever hoped for and are a bit of a laughing stock.
I think a big part of Fergie’s decision to appoint Moyes was that he knew that Moyes would not insist on Fergie’s removal which is what has to happen if United are to move on. Would Mourinho or Hiddink or any of the other possible replacements stand for Fergie hanging around the club all the time? Don’t think so. We can either give Moyes another year and £100m to spend on players and hope he turns it around or cut our losses and get a proven manager in with a track record of winning things. There has been no sign yet that Moyes knows how to turn things around and no guarantee that he can attract the right players to my club.
It’s a pity because Moyes seems an alright sort but I think he is just out of his depth. All of that is notwithstanding the fact that United’s transfer policy of buying mostly shit players for the last 5 years has left him with a squad that can’t compete with City or Chelsea never mind my beloved Liverpool, Arsenal Chelsea and Everton.

If they lose to city and liverpool, and don’t progress in Europe he should be sacked.
His team selections and tactics are bizarre.
That was shocking to watch last night.

One of the worst performances from United in years last night. As bad as Lille away around the time Keane was booted out or the title decider with city a couple of years ago when Kompany scored.

Had played relatively well against Palace. 4-2-3-1, passed it and looked decent enough. The only change for last night should have been Kagawa for Mata. Instead he completely fucked the team around, reverting to a flat 4-4-2 with Young, Cleverley and Valencia ffs. Biggest game of the season and he selects those three. Januzaj has been our best player this season and he was not even on the bench, rested even though we don’t have another game for another 11 days. Totally clueless.

Have lurched from one disaster to another since last May. You could make allowances if he had shown a lot of the deadwood the door, had brought in some exciting youngsters and was trying to implement a new style. However awful results have coincided with awful performances. The only tactic is get it to the byline and pull it back or lump it into the box. 81 crosses v Fulham at home. Play the worst football of any side in the top half, and probably in the league generally.

He picked a negative team last night to nick a 0-0 or scrape a win. That’s ok at Everton but this is Manchester United. Got some great attacking players but they are rarely utilised. The players look totally demoralised. The lack of fight, spirit and graft last night was shameful, irrespective of who the manager is. Only maybe Vidic and Evra can say they worked hard and gave their all.

I feel for Moyes, a decent man but managing United in this day and age you need to be a ruthless, arrogant, bullying tyrant. He doesn’t have it in him. It’s all very well saying “back the manager” but at what stage do you say enough is enough. Look at Hodgson and Dalglish (2nd time) at Liverpool - going nowhere and deservedly sacked. Going places under Rodgers now.

Keep thinking we’ve hit rock bottom and then the next week we out do it. West Brom, Sunderland, Fulham, Swansea, Newcastle and Everton - it goes on and on. Doesn’t show any sign of abating. A parting of the ways in the summer looks inevitable now. He won’t get rid of the deadwood (he played them in the biggest game of the season last night!) and I genuinely think if he signed Messi or Ronaldo he wouldn’t know how to fit them into the side. The job looks too big for him. Neville, Round and Jimmy Lumsden to prepare world class players at training ffs. Took a gamble and it hasn’t worked out. Fergie shouldn’t have had any say in his successor. Bending over to facilitate Rooney was weak management too and is bound to have an affect on the dressing room.

I hope they get through and draw Bayern with first leg in Old Trafford.
Nothing like a bit of tough love to help reality kick in.

What about the financial issues I flagged… The Glaziers seem to be only taking from the club, will they pay out severance, hire a new manager and stump up 50-80m for new players? You’re talking about 100m roughly, if not more, and with no CL. Can you trust Moyes to buy if he is not sacked? … What were they thinking with a 6 year contract, there must surely be a clause or two in there protecting themselves from forking out big bucks if it goes tits up…

I want answers, pal.

Your concern as a Liverpool fan is touching.

His contract will have minimum performance requirements I imagine (top 4, Champions League last 8 etc). It won’t cost the full £20m or £30m to get rid. It will only happen in the summer, if at all.

Fergie and Bobby appointed their mate. They will demand he is given more time so we’ll be stuck with him again next season, with that fucking Europa League thrown in for added grief. Out in Afghanistan on Thursday night, Liverpool or city away on Sunday lunch time. Another season wasted.

The Glazers have been a cancer on the club since the day they arrived, only Fergie the miracle worker covered the cracks. Major rebuild needed - Vidic is going and will probably be joined by Ferdinand and Evra. The midfield still needs reinforcement, Van Persie doesn’t look like his heart is in it. That’s about five or six players needed. After the panic buys of Fellaini and Mata (good player but he was not a priority) I’d have grave doubts as to whether Moyes can be trusted with the cash. Most of his big money buys at Everton did not work out.

They won’t be able to take from the club if the revenue is not there pal.
Ya gotta speculate to accumulate.

Just asking as a football fan, mate. The trials and tribulations of the EPL don’t upset me that much. I reserve all my emotion for the green and white.

While a lot of fans are calling for him to be sacked I don’t think It’s as easy as that. The Glaziers will be happy to ride the golden calf into the ground, CL or no CL, as the Utd brand will still make them vast amounts but all the while the club itself will be mounting more debt. I see him getting another year easily but if he doesn’t turn it around and they continue to hand out silly contracts they are headed for big trouble.

You talk an awful amount of shite.

We got rid of those yankie cunts at our club, kid-United should do the same.
