Manchester United FC 2013/14

What a guy Moyesie is, I hope they never sack him, an honest to God good egg

Manchester United manager David Moyes has written an open letter to the club’s season ticket holder in which he admits he did not foresee United’s difficult season.

“While I knew that this job would be a challenge when I took it on, the difficult season we have experienced was not something that I envisaged, which I am sure is the case as well for you supporters – and my players, staff and I am desperate to compensate for that,” Moyes said in the letter.

Moyes said that the backing the fans had given his side had been “incredible” throughout the season, and that “away from home the travelling fans have remained the best in the country, while at Old Trafford your unwavering faith has been noticeable and hugely welcomed.”

“I have absolutely no doubt that we will see great winning sides here again” - David Moyes
Moyes said that he believed that everything the club had been through would make it “a better, stronger team and club in the future.

"Over the years you have seen great winning sides here and, in time, I have absolutely no doubt that we will see great winning sides here again.”

He said that United needed to transform “Old Trafford back into the fortress it has long been renowned as, and we will do everything in our power to get the positive performances and results to do that”.

Just back from The Hawthorns, pal?

Brendan Rodgers has warned Manchester United of lasting consequences for failing to secure Champions League football and that Liverpool would move out of reach with victory tomorrow.

The Liverpool manager has watched a remarkable swing in fortunes against United this season and heads to Old Trafford 11 points above David Moyes’s team, having finished 28 points below Alex Ferguson’s champions last term.

Rodgers knows from experience that Liverpool’s global reputation and history of success could not compete with the lure of the Champions League for leading players. He believes United will not be immune from the problem should Moyes’s side – in sixth and nine points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City, having played two games more – need to rebuild from a position of weakness this summer.

“This is a worldwide club, a monumental club, but when you’re not in the Champions League we found it difficult because the best players want to play in the best competitions. Any club will suffer when they’re not in there. There is no doubt it will hurt you but they [United] know that,” said the Liverpool manager.

‘Long way to go’

“It’s not simple to get back in. You think every year is the next year. I was reading a Jan Molby interview today about the great Liverpool teams of the past. He said when they missed out one year became two and then all of a sudden it was 20 years since they last won the title. It can get away from you very quickly. It’s our focus and drive to arrive in there. We have a long way to go but show great potential to be in there. I believe if we can get to that level then it gives us a massive advantage as a club,” he added.

Liverpool are unbeaten in the Premier League this year and Champions League aspirations have turned increasingly towards a first championship since 1990.

Rodgers, though bullish about his team’s fine vein of form, claims Liverpool “still have a lot of work to get into the Champions League” and denied his players arrive at Old Trafford as the superior team.

“I think it is dangerous to think that. They are still the champions and all we can do is go there and look where we are at. We are second in the league on merit,” he said.

“We have performed consistently for a long period of time and that makes us a very dangerous opponent.

“Our first job is to consolidate fourth and then work upwards. That is the aim.”

Manchester United fanzine Red Issue are reporting that Moyes and Giggs have fallen out and that “a senior player” tore into Moyes in the dressing room post-game yesterday.

Moyes came across as a bit of a bully at Everton but that’s fine and well when you’re dealing with journeymen players. He has let the likes of Rooney, Van Persie and Giggs walk all over him at United, in a way you feel sorry for him as it’s unacceptable for experienced and highly paid players to act up like that but he has allowed it to happen himself.

If they don’t win on Wednesday, I think Moyes will be sacked. They won’t wait for City to roll them over.

It’s time to put an end to this farce now and put Moyes out of his misery - and take Jimmy Lumsden and Steve fucking Round with him. Total and absolute disaster of an appointment, the players have given up. Just lurched from one catastrophe to another since last May.

  • wasting 6 weeks at Everton and not leaving immediately
  • getting rid of the existing and successful coaching staff
  • the panic buy of Fellaini
  • shit-on-a-stick tactics every single game
  • the terrible media performances “we’ll try and make it difficult for Newcastle at Old Trafford” “Liverpool will be favourites”

In Moyes defence Fergie left him an amount of dross but it has gone too far now. Parting of the ways best for all concerned. Liverpool at home and a gutless, spiritless capitulation. Stopping those cunts winning the league would have been one tiny morsel of comfort to take from the season ffs.

 the guy is clearly out of his depth.

That doesn’t excuse the unprofessional manner some of his experienced players have acted in.

it can hardly have come to him as a shock to find out that some of the senior players at manyoo are utter cunts

RvP definitely, the rest of them just look like they have no belief or understanding in what they are supposed to be doing.
Rooney and Evra supposedly the only senior players backing him.
€300k a week will buy a lot of loyalty I suppose.

That’s it art, let all that 20 odd years of hurt out. Great seeing 20 years of rattledness gushing from lfc fans this season.

yeah thats it mullach, sure rioferdy5, rooney, giggs and RVP are sound chaps

You support liverpool because you think their players are “sound”??

Seriously, pal, you must be disgusted with some of the senior players, they are willing to let the club sink just because they are not happy with the manager. That’s disgusting considering what they are being paid. Keane was right a few weeks back when he attacked Carrick for the post olympiakos interview and said it summed up the gutlessness of the players. Yesterday was shocking, I’ve never seen a utd performance like it. They were pretty much beaten before a ball was kicked and it all can’t come from Moyes. In saying that, I can’t understand why he is leaving RvP sulk around the place when Welbeck will run himself into the ground and as I said yesterday I was delighted not to see him come on until late as he would have caused problems for a dodgy centre pairing that was never tested.
