Neither could Gerrard when he slipped, pal.
Remember Anfield 1992 pal, United fucked it away and the whole of Anfield singing “have you ever seen United win the league?” and “you lost the league on Merseyside!”
Pay back for that day. Rodgers and Liverpool Devon Loch’ed it.
The defeat at Anfield in 1992 was not the losing of the league just like Denis Law did not score the goal that relegated Man U in 1973/74. Man U had already lost to Nottingham Forest and West Ham earlier that week. Leeds wrapped up the title by winning at Sheffield United the same day Man U lost to Liverpool but even if Man U had won at Anfield, a home win for Leeds over lowly Norwich last game of the season (who they went onto beat in any case) would have clinched the title for Leeds. Leeds ultimately ran out comfortable enough winners by 4 points.
What exactly do you mean by Man U getting payback for 1992? Liverpool took 6 points off Man U this season pulling up in both games.
The United fans like him just want too make sure they aren’t left behind. They’ve been fairly irrelevant this season and they’ll do anything to try include themselves in the debate even though their contribution to the football this year has been insignificant.
You could say it’s John Terry-esque, except John Terry was actually the captain of Chelsea Football Club when Roberto Di Matteo’s Lions won on penalties in Munich two years ago, so he was certainly a very relevant figure in the celebrations.
No Europa League next year either, thank God for that. Giggsy.
city winning it is the lesser of two evils (and their fine from UEFA for breaching FFP rules mean they’ll always have an asterisk beside it). The media hype if Gerrard got his hands on it, 25th anniversary of Hillsborough, the redemption of Suarez etc would have been unbearable. Anyway it never came to fruition, the Devon Loch collapse against Chelsea and Palace saw to that. Might be quite a while before they get the chance to get to 19.
On to next season, Moyes gone so the handbrake which hindered United all season has been released. Hopefully big Louis confirmed in the next few days and the 20 times league champions can build on this seasons 7th place finish.

Liverpool won 12 and drew 1 of their last 14 games. They were beaten by the side that finished third, a side that lifted the European Cup two years ago. They drew at Crystal Palace, a side who have been in a rich vein of form and who on form table over the last 10 games of the season were 4th best performing. Its hardly a Devon Loch style collapse. It pales in comparison to the 8 points that Man U dropped in the last few games when Man City previously won the EPL two years ago - featuring a 4-4 home draw to a David Moyes coached Everton, when they were 2 ahead and a 1-0 defeat to Wigan.
I was having this discussion with @ClarkeyCat before.
A left back should never be a priority when you have so many other gaping holes in your team such as centre mid, attacking mid and central defence as you have pointed out above.
It is possible to ‘make do’ in that position for a while as Liverpool showed this season with Flano there.
It is all very well when you have almost a complete team and have loads of money left to splash out on a full back, otherwise I think it is a case of ridiculous prioritisation.
