De Gea is nailing the David James roll anyway.
That Liverpool team were electric going forward … They were a bombscare at the back… Too much boozing.
Would Razor Ruddock be the 90’s equivalent of Harry Maguire?
Coach Ole is rightly earning the plaudits from the Man U fans at the moment for the terrific job he is doing. They’re a notoriously fickle lot though. They were screeching for him to be sacked only a few months back after the home loss to Sean Dyche’s Burnley, shortly before the lockdown. I suppose those are the demands when you’re the richest club in the world with possibly the most expensively assembled starting XI in the history of soccer at a cost of half a billion.
Lose out on European Cup Football in the race for 5th with Wolverhampton Wanderers (subject to the caveat that the Manchester City ban is upheld in the courts) and it’ll probably be back to square one for Coach Ole, planes with banners flying over Old Trafford calling for him to be sacked and Ed Woodward and his family having their house fire bombed.
No mate, if razor was around now he’d be watching the matches in the Ratoath Inn with ye.
Is whether he has done a good job or not not dependent on whether he makes the top 4? Surely that’s the least he needs to do with the most expensively assembled and richly remunerated collection of human beings who have come together with the sole purpose of winning association football matches?
A strange group are the United faithful. Everything is rosy now, one loss and they’ll no doubt back to the banners and torches.
They’re more the silent type on this forum. They tend to go missing after a bad result or during a bad run of form.
The funny thing is you wouldn’t see many banners/flags at Old Trafford pre-Covid. Can’t say they’ve ever sucked the ball into the net akin to the Kop. That 34 years without a trophy flag directed at Man City appears to have gone missing of late too.
When, if ever, is the last time Wolves were in the champions league or European cup?
Wolverhampton Wanderers were last champions of England in the 1950’s.
I think they should have been first English team in European Cup but turned it down and matt Busbys United entered the following year. Could be wrong on that. I think the English were a bit sceptical of it at first as a gimmicky Johnny foreigner thing.
Wolverhampton Wanderers also one of the twelve clubs that competed in the inaugural football league in 1888/89. A club with real tradition.
Given the difference in form since his arrival you would have to say they would have a few more points on the board.
Since he took over 18 months ago, Coach Ole has moved them up from 6th to 5th in the table and into the European Cup qualification places (subject to the caveat of the upholding of the Manchester City ban from European football in the courts).
After 32 games last season, Man Yoo had 61 points. After 32 games this season, Man Yoo have 52 points. Is that your definition of progression?
I’m not a Man U fan and would rarely if ever watch them play so wouldn’t be best placed to comment on progression. The Man U fans here would be a primary source of information for yours truly on how they’re doing. Man U superfan @Mullach_Ide was posting up this morning what seemed like fairly impressive statistics on Coach Ole’s stewardship.
Progression would be more rated on where United were at Christmas, the form they were in and how they were playing, compared to now. Solskjaers first few months were a dream, but outside of that period pre lock down and since is the most consistent they’ve been. There is definitely progress visible currently
I feared for Ole post lockdown as their fixture list was horrendously difficult looking. A creditable draw against the strongest Spurs team since the 60s was followed by victories over Premier League veterans Sheffield Utd and Brighton as well as a FA Cup victory over cup specialists Norwich. I expect Rio to call on the Utd board to improve OGS’ contract terms in the coming days.
