[QUOTE=“fucked out, post: 1152953, member: 1495”]I saw this on Twitter. I thought it was brilliant. I reckon she shoved him down the stairs.

@Limerick1914: My colleague Barry Brien has sent me this obituary he found in the Limerick Chronicle… (19 Jun 1807) http://t.co/kL2GfleZkK

Dissolution is a great term for dying. They need to bring it back.

Who owns the boat?

One of the McCarthys I’d say

Who was the boss man that owned the gaff?? De Desmonds?

Ya, the 1st Earl of Desmond built the current castle back in the 1300’s. I think there were lesser ones there previous to that.
For a period of time when the FitzGeralds were in power in the region Askeaton would have been the “capital” of Munster.

The people’s republic of Askeaton

The one and only CM. The Templar’s owned the Tower at the back and the Franciscans owned the Abbey.

The Desmonds never feared Tipp either, they had plenty of hops off those Ormonde cunts across the border.

This is where @ChocolateMice would have spent his evenings in old Askeaton

Who’s working on it? Or is that just for safety?

A few OPW boys have got the handiest number ever. They’ve been tipping away repairing and making the place safe for at least the past 10 years and still no sign of it opening.

The Desmonds burned yere kip to the ground in the 1500’s.

There’s an artist from West Limerick that has spent his life drawing what these castles would have looked like in their splendour, in recent years he has got invlolved in restoring some of them… I’ll see if I can get onto him and he might have an auld drawing he can pass on.

If it’s good enough for the Devil it’s good enough for CM.

Here’s another map of the city from a few year’s later -

This is the oldest example of a medieval citadel still extant in Europe — where is it?
