Grub, match, pints. In that order.
This started off well but has gone downhill in the last few years. There a great story about patriot Jack Monday though. The first black man in the Irish army.
Jack Mondays is a nice spot but only worth going to if you are heading to the castle anyways. JJ Bowles around the corner then for a drink.
Information overload. Iām sensing that we should skip the castle and just wander around town during the afternoon. I think Iāll book a surprise massage for my life partner for when Iām attending the match. That would be a really lovely treat for her.
JJ Bowles is a great pub. Maybe not for a valentines weekend though with the bird.
Get across to the Curragower, best view of the city imo in the smoking area there in the front. Whatever about the regulars, the views are amazing, foodās decent too youāll get something to keep ye going.
Take a detour there couple of hours before the game, youāre not far away then to walk across to HQ.
Head up to Catherine St and ask around and you should get sorted for the massage.
The castle is fine. Nothing amazing but it will be a nice 1.5 hoursā¦ Shame Iām not around, I could have given you and your lovely lady a historic walking tour of the city.
Itās pissing rain in Limerick. Not the weather for strolling or exploring. @ChocolateMice, whereās good for tea and a slice of banana bread or a scone very close to The Savoy?
Would you consider the Savoy hotel Bandage? thereās a lovely tea and scone to be had on the first floor.
Hook and Ladder about 80 yards from the hotel if you turn right on leaving is a grand spot as well.
Thereās a cafe upstairs in BTs but I donāt know if you wanna go in thereā¦nice cakes\sweets tho. Most other places will require a walkā¦you could just have it in the savoy bar where you are, pal. Thereās one or two places on Catherine Street \thomas St which are a 3 minute walk from you.
Sage is on Catherine Street but I havenāt been in there in years so canāt really give athumbs up\down.
Sage was a great spot when it opened and it can still be decent for lunch, Iām not a fan of their desserts though and the scones can be hit and miss (my missus is an authority on scones).
The Buttery on Bedford Row is even closer to the Savoy and isnāt bad either. However if I was staying in the Savoy today I wouldnāt leave the building, the MaitreāD in the first floor restaurant is some operator.
Very bad luck for Bandage that it is raining in Limerick the one weekend he comes down. Normally the sun is shining here.
You could tip down to the lock bar @Bandage for tea or better still a bit of lunch. Food is nice there and youāll see a bit of the city on the way down, plus itās on the Shannon. Though there might be rugby cunts in there for the match.
Is the game being televised tonight?
Ya setanta.
Itās on gaago for a tenner
Channel 424 on Sky
Donāt have that and doesnāt look like Mobdro covers that channel. Iām sure one of you good Limerick folk will have a link later.
