Matters regarding Limerick, Limerick Pubs, No Culture allowed

Staying in the Absolute I suppose from treatystones comment, Portleys across the river is a decent boozer.
Tom Collins is a Limerick institution so itā€™s worth a visit to be able to join in future conversations.
Thereā€™s a lot of decent quiet pubs in Limerick, youā€™ll be grand.

The Curragower, Tom Collins, the Locke, Charlie Malones.

Boo!!!

A bit of a walk wonā€™t kill him FFS

Youā€™re staying at the Absolute? You need to be more specific. Mainly - What beer do you drink? Only then can we tailor recommendations to your exact requirements.

Heā€™s only a 5 minute walk from Donkeys

Tom Collins is gone back a terror I donā€™t go there at all anymore. I like Myles Breens tbh. Itā€™s a real pub. The Locke is nice but its a bit of a fake pub in that its all fair weather drinkers turn up there and any tourist to Limerick seems to go there. The hurlers is enjoying an unbelievable renaissance. Probably no.1 now again for me in Limerick if given the choice, only problem being its out of town for visitors.

Thereā€™s an opening for a Roaster / GAA pub in the city center.

Great shout.

If someone asked you ā€œwhere in the city will I go to watch the hurlingā€ youā€™d be hard pressed to give them an answer.

Clems had that sewen up once upon a time.

Roasters had it there for a while with CiarƔn Carey having the place before Clem. Still not exactly city centre all the same.

Iā€™ll take out a lease on Bourkes and turn it into a GAA pub so.

Myles Breens is a great shout. Really like it.

The Hurlers? Out near the lodge?

That was a student kip the last time I was in it. An awful hole

Well thereā€™s absolutely nowhere. I remember being in the city the day of Waterford v Clare this year and I was meeting my bird who also wanted the match but left choosing the venue up to me. I picked ā€˜big flannerysā€™, presuming I could buy drinks in the small bar and there would be the match on in the big area on the big screen. They hadnā€™t the match on a single TV. As it was close to throw in unjust crossed over to that shit hole Smyths who at least have excellent viewing from anywhere in the pub on many big projector screens around the pub. But of course the drink there is vile. I couldnā€™t think of anywhere else at short notice. Maybe the Still house?

Thereā€™s a place in Newtown, Annacotty called Oā€™Connors (formerly Sinnots) and its pure roaster central. In so far as roasters now living in the city, they frequent it for steak n chips and watching the match. Pure country folk both sides of the counter.

Yeah. Savage place now the new guy has made a right job of it. Was a big student place before but now there are more ā€œnormal peopleā€ than students. Way more.

I think itā€™s gone rough again and more likely they will have the soccer on if thereā€™s a clash.

The Still House is a grand spot to watch a match. But as you say would always have a Premership match on the big screen over a GAA match. Might have been okay that weekend though.
