It couldn’t be GAA related anyway cos Galway won everything in 17
Hungry Ryan might be better
He should have called it Fat Pat’s altogether
Any idea what the dispute was over? That Ennis Road site must have paid for itself a few times over, it is surely there 25 years if not longer.
Refurbishment works
Apparently, as part of the franchise agreement with Fat Pat, Supermacs rather than the franchisee had to refurbish the restaurant every 10 years. It’s 25 years since it was opened and no refurbishment had been done and Supermacs basically refused.
So your man said fine I’ll refurbish it myself and take it out of the franchise fee (or something along those lines) and Supermacs brought him to court to prevent him from doing the place up. He won the court case and did the place up but it obviously left a bad taste in the mouth.
Seem’s very silly from Pat. That must be in the top 10 or so busiest Supermacs in the country. The one in Dooradoyle is probably no major loss to him, although I’d say it does fine.
I’d imagine Hungry Lyons has his money well made at this stage, so can afford to give him the fuck you treatment.
Supermacs is gone in Raheen? Ahh noooo
I think the issue is really that Pat owns or has a long term lease on most of the Franchise buildings, whereas Mr Lyons owns his own premises, so Pat was slow to renovate someone else’s property.
Lyons is a shrewd enough operator. He wasn’t going to take any shit from his old buddy
He called his bluff. You have to be careful with Franchises Mr. Eddie Rockets must have taken a right hit from losing half his Munster Franchises
I’d imagine he was probably on a much sweeter deal than most given how long he’s held the franchise as well. New agreements probably much more airtight.
Mick O’Dwyer did the same with a franchise in Tralee. Told Pat to fuck himself and renamed the restaurant Micko’s. It lasted about a year afterwards and was until that point an absolute gold mine. A cautionary tale.
What kind of share of the revenue would Pat be taking as the Franchiser? 10 to 15%?
Not sure. I’d imagine it varies depending on number of franchises, when you took out the franchise etc.
McDonalds charge circa 4% of sales. Which means they get paid whether you make money or not. I’d imagine Pat is similar.
I actually had to Google it to even figure out where the one in Dooradoyle was, even though I’ve been in there at least twice.
Mr Lyons kicked myself @TreatyStones neighbour out of his house one night and chased us off down the streets. A Scary man. His son could have been a fine rugby player.
The change is not getting a good reaction on social media
People are mad
You’d swear Supermac’s was nice. There are at least 5 better chippers within a 5 minute drive of the hospital.
The brand loyalty for what is, at absolute best, average is absolutely ridiculous.
Irish people are sheep, pal.
