Murphy isn’t the first player to have been in that position. If you play the series without every player who is still involved at club level in some form or other you’ll have a very thin squad to pick from, and in that case there’s no point playing it. Murphy wouldn’t have had the captaincy if he didn’t want it.
Surely Donegal should ahve had their county championship played off by now? Tyrone had their final last week and they went out of the championship on August 25th whereas Donegal went out on August 4th. If they started their club championship even three weeks after they went out of the championship, they should have had it played off by now.
You cannot blame a player for wanting to play for his country.

Ya, CB’s are also to blame. But you were specific about the captaincy. Early didn’t need to make him (or anyone) captain till this week. By last weekend even you’d have a better idea of the club set up.

Michael Murphy “ruling the roost”, according to the respected Gaelic Games commentator, character, caricature and storyteller Brian Carthy, who is present at the Donegal SFC final.
A Michael Murphy-inspired Glenswilly crush Killybegs by 3-19 to 2-6.
“Michael Murphy simply outstanding”, according to respected Gaelic Games commentator and fan of the All-Ireland u-21 championships, Brian Carthy.
Michael Murphy has completely clamped his detractors, you’d have to say.
Very true Sidney. I bet not one of his teammates objected to him going on to play in Saturday nights game, shur why would they have.
