RIP to the greatest commentator of all time.
greatest GAA commentator?
Def GAA and possibly of all sports… his knowledge and descriptions were second to none, add in his enthusiasm and humour
I think you are biased as you are Irish
Not legendary enough that lads might spell his name properly

I would say he was one of my favourites. I loved him on the radio, he made dour league games epic back in the day. When it was just 2 channel land and AI semis/Finals on the telly he was magic in the championship.
I’d rate him with my other favourites - Jimmy Magee, Bill McLaren, Peter O’ Sullivan
Murray Walker also

I’m not a fan of F1 racing but I have watched a few races over the year.
They tried to introduce a co commentator with Walker towards the end of his career. Martin Brundle maybe. Anyway I can recall a race where Murray is commentating like the clappers, Brundle interjects as he had said anything for ages and Murray told him to shut up.
Did O’Muircheartaigh ever have a co commentator? I don’t think so.
Ted Lowe - snooker. Just magic.
You’d have to include Sid Waddell in the darts even if he spent most of the time waffling away in his Geordie accent about stuff only someone in Mensa would understand.
Simon Holt - Horse Racing
