Kerins was defo in and around thenā€¦

i thought kearns was a bit later

Lacey & Rainbow were fine defenders.

Martin Lynch was a good forward but they were pretty limited otherwise in attack.

it was kerins, just sussed it there

I think they finished up not been too fond of him either!

Lynch was a midfielder playing full forward

He had no idea who Rainbow was when he walked in.

Mccormock wing forward was a tidy footballer. .seemed to always played well against the dubs

Iā€™m not the better of watching it tbh, there was a real sadness to some of his comments.

Itā€™s great to have that documentary. To narrate it himself as well. Perfection. A great, great man.

Losing his wife, not being involved in top level football anymore, the deterioration of his health. Ah it was sad to see.

Can see how elderly people, particularly in rural areas, can become so lonely and detached from society once they reach a certain age due to limitations placed on them by ill health. Sad way to see out your days.

That was really well done. Very poignant. Just let him talk.

He was 36 in 1982. Won a minor with Offaly in 1964 and played in the 1969 final. Heā€™s a first cousin of my mothers.

I presume it was the same people that made the Giles documentary? The style was almost identical

Wasnā€™t there a book published a few years back about the furlong brothers ??

He spent a bit of time in the US .

Yes I read it, Martin emigrated to NY late in life where a number of his brothers are/were

He emigrated to US afterwards I think. I bought the book about the brothers but never got around to reading it. Everybody Iā€™ve heard mention him seem to agree he was a madman

There was. Itā€™s a very good read. Tom Furlong got a bit of press around this time last year when the Atlanta Falcons got to the Super Bowl.

Martin emigrated to New York in mid 80s and is there ever since. Mick and John were a good bit older than Tom and Martin. Martin the only one left now. One of the four brothers played championship football for Offaly in each of the five decades from the 40s to the 80s. Martinā€™s son Ken played a few games in goal in the 90s.
