Midweek International Friendlies

gibralter were 2 down to estonia after 80 mins

And Australia have lost 4-3 having been 3-0 up against Ecuador. Significant that Matty Ryan was the goalkeeper in the first half and kept a clean sheet until he was subbed at half time for Mitch Langarak, who subsequently got sent off. You’ll all be aware that Matty was the netminder for the Central Coast Mariners (TFK’s favourite A League team) until this season and is now considered the best gloalie in the Belgian league.

Italy resorting to lumping balls into the box against Spain. Alonso just mugged off Destro at the back post. Destro caught sitting on his heels.
Good result for Gordon Strachan and the Tartan Army in Poland in the Group D dress rehearsal. Broony with the winner after 77 minutes.

The smart money will be on Scotland qualifying for their first major finals in France in 18 years, which coincidentally will also be their first major finals anywhere in 18 years.
Poland were brutal. Lewandowski wasn’t playing and Kuba is off with a cruciate problem. Lots of nice tippy tappy stuff around midfield but woeful in the last third of the field. Scotland were functional and are probably the greater threat to our qualification.

Pre-world cup friendlies are a fuckin shambles.
Germany have a team of kids out against Poland here. Poland don’t give a fuck and the Germans are just trying not to get injured.
0-0, brutal stuff.

I think Draxler was Germany’s oldest player tonight. He’s 20.

Germany 1-4 down against Argentina in Dusseldorf tonight. Schurle just pulled on back. Di Maria has scored a couple I think. Half watching it here.

Lamela got 2

Lot of mis-information here from @balbec & @chewy louie

Goals from ADM, Agüero, Lamela & Fernandez

3 assists for ADM too

Argentina GK gone down with cramp. In fairness

4-2 now

Immobile scores after 3 minutes to put Italy 1-0 up on The Netherlands.

Live now on Setanta Ireland.

Penalty for Italy. Bruno Martins-Indi sent off.

De Rossi scores. 2-0 Italy after 10 mins. Conte has them looking good here.

Not midweek, and not a friendly (Concacaf Cup, and matches between US and Mexico are never friendly), but a cracking game here. Match being played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in front of 90,000, so a home game for Mexico.

1-1 at HT. Lots of needle, already been one big scuffle with almost all 22 players involved.
Mexico opened the scoring with a nice 1-2 between Chicarito and Aguilar.
Cameron scores with a free header off a free kick.
Ex Roma legend, Michael Bradley, almost put the US 2-1 up on the half from a free kick.

Chicarito with an unfortunately typical open goal miss. Mexico all over the US except on the scoreboard.

59min, Chicharito misses a sitter.
Mexico playing their trademark tiki taka possession style and bossing the game. US content to soak up pressure and catch them on the counter, with donkey Altidore as the hold up man.

Peralta puts Mexico 2-1 in the first half of Extra Time.

Mexican fans in full voice, pretty hostile atmosphere for the US here in California del Norte.

Bobby Wood with the equaliser for the US,
Game on!!
