Iāve spotted one in the river a few times recently. Iām walking that stretch of river years and I had never seen one, but spotted it twice within a couple of weeks.
Iād see them all the time in the harbour, especially at the back of Rostellan woods where the harbour narrows up.
saw a bird of prey getting harassed by two or three grey crows yesterday, couldnāt tell what bird it was but they chased him off anyway. Lovely sight.
Thereās a website to report sightings of red squirrels. They can survive in Pine forests where Greys canāt.
I reported seeing one just out west of oughterard and was contacted by a PhD student about it just pre covid.
Oughtarad only does native species!

No comparison object here but the mink is about the size of a big cat.
Itās the Pine Marten thatās helping the Red make a comeback.

There was at least 20 other crows on the telephone line roaring, if they werenāt going to help him then I wasnāt either.
The same bird killed a pigeon a couple of weeks ago as well. Iād be slightly concerned for my daughters kitten.
