That was the opposite. A scandal which was brushed under the carpet. It does not have the social impact of the other two cases in any event.

Another awful affair from the 80s was that poor young lad in Shannon that was killed in the hotel carpark. The whole show was covered up by all and sundry, guards, locals, wives the lot. Great little country all the same, sure.

Nod nod, wink wink, sweep sweep.

What about poor Henry ( Harry ) Gleeson in Tipp? That man was hanged in the wrong

the kerry babies case was for all intents and purposes from the same spring as the lovett case… young girls having babies out in fields because of the overbearing imposed societal shame of having a child out of wedlock

ireland 30+ years ago was a fucked up place to live in in many ways, as i’m sure you’ll agree

Laois man in his 30’s found in the River Lee late last night. Had been down in Cork on a Stag weekend, missing from Saturday night/Sunday morning. Leaves behind a wife and child. Was a member of the Laois football panel for a period in the last 10 years. Awful thing.

A lot of that stuff is grace of God. Lots of lads end up in situations when alcohol involved and walk away and some people are just unfortunate.

Any lads on here with sons will worry a lot when they are older and out and about as they know the messing that goes on and the luck involved in getting home at times.

I was thrown over a bridge once by my mates as a gag. Walked out of the stream below and was fine. On another day that would have been the end

Areas of Lee down around Sextant bar are v open. Youd want to be well oiled, and probably half lost but could easily go in there

Most likely hammered and lost alright, just awful.

I spotted @Rintintin sitting on a low stone wall one night after a night out. I ran over, grabbed his leg and tipped him over the other side of the wall. There was a 10ft drop on the other side. Luckily the fruze bushes and briars broke his fall.

That is so sad, just heartbreaking to hear that. Alcohol is a very serious depressant and it’s leading lads into such doom and gloom despair and thinking the worst. Watch yourselves with the drink lads it really a poison. R.I.P. on the poor fellow and prayer and tenderness to his heartbroken family.
