Nah, theyâre named after the Cardinal bird

My delight at Peavy getting hooked has only increased with Dubro taking over. Not only is there quality coming out of the pen, but it also means that Clay starting tomorrow is more likely in Farrellâs head. That, or Farrell is going full retard and wants to start Dempster in Game 4
Exciting now. Only getting it on twitter, but it seems super tight.
Cardinals better side tonight for sure going on stats.
Iâve got to see this. The winning of the whole thing here. Walking Ortiz to load based and bringing in a saver. Massive call by ST. Louis.
Red Sox get 2 home, Cardinals look a little deflated. Poor miss on a catch from Carpenter led to 2nd run. Much like the mistake that cost Red Sox last game.
The pitching is so good any fielding mistakes are the opportunity for runs.
This would be a steal were Red Sox to win. 4-4.
Squeaky bum time.
Cards one on two out, last innings.
Red Sox in trouble. Beltran walked, 2 on. Holliday up. Theyâll hardly hold out a run now.
Safe. 4-4. 1 innings to take big scalp an go long way to winng whole thing.
Jasus, 2 batters strikes out 3-0 off 6 pitches.
Extra innings. Pathetic effort from Red Sox tail end.
Cardinals win controversial one. Their man was clearly out.
No review system in baseball?
Having said that there out hit and out pitched Boston. Itâs been a series of big fuck ups. Boston lead that 2-1, St. Louis lead the series 2-1.
He was awarded home base, it didnât matter that he was tagged
Fair enough. I donât understand what you mean, but you seem technically sure.
Does him interfering with the catch at 3rd base mean anything?

Yeah, an umpire can award a baserunner the next base on from the one he last touched safely if he deems some action by the defending team as having obstructed the runner from progressing. The 3rd base umpire signaled to the home plate umpire to give him home, which is why he ignored the tag.
While Craigâs actions were off-putting to Middlebrooks, nothing he did was illegal. Baserunners must be allowed to make every attempt to be safe, its a balance between allowing both offense and defense make plays. The throw was off anyway, and I think the deflection off Craig actually made the throw to home easier.

It seemed like a bad call so going by what you said cos the 3rd baseman didnât seem to make any deliberate move to inhibit the run.
Either way St. Louis should have won tha game.

Watch it back again. After the ball goes past and Craig realises and attempts to start running again, Middlebrooks raises his legs whilst still prostrate on the ground and trips him. Very minor but enough to make a difference, and a good call under the rules of the game. The issue Farrell and the Red Sox have is that a call like that shouldnât decide the outcome of a World Series game. Itâd be the equivalent of the Munster U-21 Final a few years ago with the goalie called for taking a step too far with his puck-out.
Come on you Cardinals!
Iâm thrilled for my distant St. Louis relations* such as multiple Grammy award-winning singer and former member of the Doobie Brothers, Michael McDonald.
*Distant both in terms of actually being related, and in terms of the amount of miles away from Ireland that they live.
Jim Joyce strikes again
Series tied at 2-2
Fuck yeah. Chalk it down.
Big games from Papi, Gomes, Dobrount, Lackey and even Clay Buchholz who made such an effort to put together 4 decent innings. Another weird ending with Koji picking off the lazy pinch runner with Carlos Fucking Beltran standing at the plate. Guaranteed to get back to Fenway now, momentum shifts yet again.
