You asked for opinions. You’re getting them. If you were paying yourself by the hour (which I think you do) then you’re already out of pocket here so whether it’s a fiver or tenner is negligible.
He said pay by bank transfer or PayPal. I didn’t know there was a seller’s fee on PayPal. I paid the £310. I was surprised he then asked me to friends and family the rest. I’ve never sold anything using PayPal, but I didn’t reckon it was my lookout. I’m a luddite though so I was asking was there any trodden path on such things.
I’d pay the tenner but that’s just me. Especially when it’s a helmet. I hate karma
