Carey claimed to be due an insurance payment, so asked the entrepreneur for a short-term loan. However, the Kilkenny hurling star never repaid it.

Businessman Tom Brennan has secured a judgement of €40,000 against the former hurling star DJ Carey.
Brennan secured the judgement in November 2021 in the Circuit Court in Kilkenny. Carey borrowed the money from Brennan in late 2020 after the former Kilkenny hurler asked him to lend him the money on a short-term basis to help him out pending an insurance settlement he claimed to be due.
“The judgement wasn’t something I wanted to do. I loaned the money to DJ to help him in what I believed was a time of need. I felt concerned about him and was happy to help him,” Brennan said.
“I felt I had no choice but to take this action,” he added. “I don’t wish to comment further.”
Brennan, who attended St Kiernan’s College, Kilkenny but at a different time as Carey agreed to lend Carey the money for a short period. Carey agreed to repay the loan within a few months once he settled his insurance claim.
In September 2021 Brennan served a summons against Carey in Mount Juliet, the hotel and golf resort.
The following month he secured a judgement of €40,000 against Carey. Carey could not be contacted.
I’d imagine Brennan will be lucky to see any.
Was it around this time that Carey was part of the Kilkenny selection team but seemed a bit distant or removed from the whole thing? I wonder had these issues become known at that time? He was gone after 2020, if I recall correctly

Yep. Iirc . Your wan got a load of cash after selling off the website. They invested in a few properties around mount juliet. My memory is sketchy but I think there was a few developments around the estate. They split up a few years back and she must have left him live there after she fucked off
