More GAA Shame

An Obama for the GAA and Ireland.

Big blow for the self-hating Irish who have left the country.

Heā€™ll have the players kissing the Archbishop of Cashel and Emlyā€™s ring before he throws in the ball for the 2024 All Ireland final.

Wrong thread

Oh dear

Ethnocentric

Lessons clearly have not been learnt.

Indeed. Carpets lifted, dirty secrets swept under it. Deflection towards other sports. Poor old ROG couldnā€™t pay for a kitchen and he vilified. Unknown GAA stars should get a bail out if they fall on hard times

There was the laments here during the week for the KK man. Sure he was great and deserved to be paid like Roy Keane.

I doubt Roy Keane got an equivalent level of after tax income during his career that this supposed sporting superstar got in the form of a debt write down from a State owned bank and sponsor of the GGA.

I find it difficult to have much sympathy for anyone who parted with money to fund the bogus cancer treatment of this mysterious unnamed GAA star. The official charity sector is riddled with chancers many of whom weā€™ve heard about over the last decade or so. This fellow going solo should have aroused suspicions of all bar the most gormless. You wouldnā€™t necessarily have needed Big Phil levels of intellect to see this chancer coming.

This other story from last night involving DJ Carey is a lot more troubling. What did he need ā‚¬9.5 millions for and what did he do with it? Iā€™m not aware of him doing much workwise for about 25 years now other than paying golf.

He must have bought some big mansions in the k clubā€¦ Few poor decisions from AIB here. If they had held onto the properties until 2020 they would have got a fortune for them

The unnamed former GAA star enjoys the presumption of innocence at present

He got away with it because thereā€™s a culture of deference and elitism within the GGA. As you yourself pointed out with that lineup of GGA figures defending Sean Quinn.

Too many churnilists within the GGA committed to developing the cult of personality around certain figures within the hobby rather than reporting on it objectively. This was known about for years but nothing was said because he was a ā€œlegendā€ and ā€œdeservedā€ a certain status.

GAA managers were getting paid Galway tent money back in those days, no wonder the players felt aggrieved. Sooner the whole thing goes pro the better

Where did you see this?

I read it here. It might be hard to pick it out amongst the various lads trying to bring up rugby men and their wrongdoings to deflect.

Do throw up that particular entry when you get a chance

There must be something brewing in the rugby going by the lads hereā€¦

Not hard to find on this thread.

Nothing really to be said on it. The culture of elitism and deference actually lies in the GGA. Ross Oā€™Carroll Kelly is a satire of a culture of 18 year olds in reality, the GGA is where this lifelong strange culture of adulation lives.

And yetā€¦
