Pat Ryan was known as a supersub.

Sub in his case stood for subverting the course of justice.

@Elvis_Brandenberg_Kr is lashing out over on the Limerick thread. He’s very shook.

What profession does Pat work in? Marketing or business of some sort is it? He should have just paid the fine and been done with it like the ordinary public.

Nothing too taxing you’d hope. Coverage of the case suggests he is some kind of halfwit.

My hunch about marketing was correct.

Ah fuck.

Taking the penalty points was better than this result now

He knows how to market a crime anyway.

None of the rest of the Limerick players were taking them, why should he?

Was he badly advised, a bit thick, or a bit of both?

The law is the law and all that, but there’d be a bit of sympathy for the lad. He’s got a criminal record now.

Why does he have a criminal record?

A criminal conviction will do that.

I’d expect he’ll get probation act on appeal though.

What @TheUlteriorMotive said

Everybody else was doing it so why can’t he?

But he has a criminal record for breaking the law, not only did he break the law on a motoring offence but when questioned about it in court under oath, he knowingly told blatant lies about it and got caught out. I can’t see where the sympathy comes into it. Fair enough to chance your arm and try and get off a motoring offence but at least have the decency to recognise that a judge has far superior intelligence and not try and fill him full of shit while pledging to tell the truth. He got a criminal record through absolute stupidity. There’s no sympathy for that.
