Iâd say a lot of the cork ones are very longstanding family operations what with Musgraves being a cork company. So less debt and massive experience

Yeah it seems to be the case. As you said maybe they were long standing operations and thats why they are so successful. The blueprint was there for them. You would have a lot of little cottage industries out there as well that would need a bit of support. They dont have an Aldi in Clon and only got a lidl last year that the locals dont even use bar a few dole heads buying woodgate cider.
Huge loyalty to these shops locally as in a lot of cases they might be the biggest individual employer in town as well
Agreed. They are also enterprising and were probably one of the few towns in Ireland that didnât feel the recession as much as others. Their chamber of commerce had a deal before whereby you could have a night out in Clon for âŹ20. It got you a main course, beer in any number of pubs and a taxi ride home within reason (something like 5Kms).
That was a great idea. Clon is a super town. They look after their own down there. The town was half dug up as well as good few times I was down there the last few years but looking good again.
She must have had a bad pint in the Donaghmede Inn. Never seen anything wrong in Dunnes of Donaghmede in all my time shopping there. I remember when there was a HWilliams in the shopping centre.
That must be a lovely memory for you.

Those protestant towns have a fierce sense of loyalty to their own alright
Clon wouldnât be particularly protestant town. You mixing it up with Bandon?

Bandon, Bantry, Clon - sure the whole of West Cork is practically Protestant
I thought they burnt all the protestants out of there
Any affluent or anyway well off cunts from that area generally are orange alright.

Blood money
Locals down there arent much better.

Not sure if you are much of a trekker, but thereâs a daycent day hike at a place called El Cani just outside of Pucon - a strenuous workout - to quote Graham Chapman itâs âmostly up until you reach the very very top, and then it tends to slope away rather sharplyâ - but the views from the peak of the three volcanoes and miles and miles of monkey puzzle forest are jaw-dropping.
