Backs up the view that once gender identity becomes rigid (around age 5 - 7), then it is difficult or may be impossible to reverse. Nobody is born with a gender identity, or a sexual orientation for that matter, both develop as the brain develops. Like everything to do with personality, itâs a combination of nature and nurture, and the science isnât at all settled on the exact biological mechanisms. The idea that gender identity or any trait for that matter is solely innate isnât supported by the science, if anything itâs closer to 50% hereditary and 50% the environment the child grows up in.
The case above would seem to contradict your view that gender identity is learned.
Boys play with diggers. Girls play with dollys.
Sin e e.
Mix em together and theyâre all doggers
So they areâŚ
No, it backs up my original point which is that trying to change a childâs gender identity is futile and probably dangerous. This is only one case and thereâs been lots of studies done since, but in this instance the intervention to try convert a boy to a girl started at 22 months, when his gender identity would be well on itâs way to being established. The main point is that in 99.7% of children gender identity matches their sex.
The evidence that personality traits are both hereditary and learned comes from identical twin studies, who have the same genes and exposure to the same hormones in the womb. When they are brought up together, they tend to have very similar personalities, but when separated at birth and brought up separately they can have quite different personalities. The explanation for it is that the brain isnât hard wired and personality and other traits determined by genes alone, the brain is plastic and can develop quite differently depending on environment.
Can you post up a few studies
Youâre keeping strange hours mate, would you not go to bed and weâll see you about midnight.
I just woke up brah
Contemplating a sleeping tablet to get me back to sleep
So, youâre using one isolated case from the 60âs, which worked out tragically and which informed a completely different view of gender identity today, and which would never be done today, to support you view that gender identity theory today is wrong?
Would you ever fuck off and stop talking shite.
Iâm at work mate, but will tonight.
What are you interested in? How the brain develops? identical twin studies?
You truly are a moron and completely out of your depth, but then again whatâs new.
I didnât bring up the case youâre referring to, and would caution against drawing any conclusions from one case. It is consistent with modern evidence however, which is that attempts to change gender identity are futile. Raise a biological male as a boy and a biological female as a girl, and in 99.7% of cases, gender identity follows sex. If a child develops as transgender, deal with it at the appropriate time. Lots of kids by the way go through phases of behaving or dressing as the opposite sex, in most cases they are not transgender.
What gender identity theory are you referring to that I âdisagreeâ with? If itâs your own claim that gender identity is innate, then you are simply wrong. Not that the opinion isnât out there, mostly held by uneducated morons, but there is scant evidence to support it. There is no accepted âtheoryâ for how gender identity develops, there are several hypotheses (do you understand the difference between hypothesis and theory?), but the evidence from scientific studies says like all personality traits, gender identity is a combination of genetics and environment (epigentics which determines gene expression).
This is really tiresome.
I didnât bring up the case either.
Youâre using a tragic isolated case from the 60s, the theory behind which has been completely discredited and which would never in a million years happen today, to make some sort of muddled point against gender transition.
At least thatâs as much as I can glean from your confused ramblings.
Why not make love to your new wife kid. Thatâs the best sleeping tablet you can take.
Thatâs what you can glean because when it comes to this topic, and I suspect anything to do with science, you havenât a fucking notion.
People who want to live as dogs should be afforded that respect and right
Kaz, another pup, argues that for some, being a puppy isnât just a fun mask to try on â itâs how they identify; itâs who they are. âEven when I worked in PC World I would sometimes walk up to people and nip at their shirt,â he says, laughing. âI got in trouble once; someone walked into the PC repair centre and I had part of their dadâs computer in my mouth. But the other staff knew I was like that to everyone. They didnât find it weird.â For Kaz, pup play can be summed up in the phrase: âBe dogâ. He will socialise as a pack, enjoy physical closeness with other pups and always eats out of a dog bowl at home. âItâs just nice, it makes me feel comfortable,â he explains, before adding âBut I always eat with a knife and fork and at a table. Otherwise itâs time-consuming and you canât watch TV.â
I havenât a fucking notion what youâre trying to say, correct. Good luck and thanks.
Iâd say he has to get her back to Ireland first
Ye he needs to get her cleared at customs first.
Fuckit but itâs all paperwork.
I doubt what he is doing is legal over there
