I didn’t have health insurance for about 12 months in 2010 or so and, of course, I did my two discs in that time period. When I got back on VHI, I couldn’t use that for a potential operation. Applied for a consultant appointment in Beaumont through the public system and got one for 16 months later. I couldn’t walk without a pronounced limp for around 3 months at the time and was in constant pain. Fucking third world shit.

I remember my first senior game with Kinvara (1996) and the ould bucks I travelled with stopped in every small town in the way home from Athenry.

That’d be in or around the time Athenry and Kinvara played out a savage game in Loughrea, if I’m not mistaken. Brian Feeney hit Gerry Mc one of the hardest shoulders I’d ever seen. Kinvara were really on the up and that loss set them back a bit. Kick-started something big for St. Marys.

Abu Gosh resident arrested for closing his baby daughter in a bucket
Video of the incident, filmed by the mother, was shared among family members on Whatsapp: Father and mother both claim incident was in jest.

A resident of Abu Gosh was filmed last week putting his 9-month-old baby in a bucket “in order to teach her a lesson.” The video consequentially went viral, attracting the attention of Jerusalem district police.

The video, which was exchanged between family and friends on Whatsapp, seems to show the father closing the crying baby within a paint bucket, later taking the bucket and going downstairs. During his investigation, the father claimed that he was “laughing with her”.

Jerusalem police arrested the father for child abuse, and a Jerusalem District Court extended his arrest by two days on Tuesday. Moreover, a report was filed with Welfare Authorities.

During the investigation, police learned that it was the baby’s mother who filmed the video, and according to the father: she also believed it was done in jest. The baby’s mother was also investigated and was released under restricted conditions.

Social workers who received the police report visited the family’s home and meet with the children. “This is a serious incident of suspected child abuse,” said Chief Superintendant Anna Ben-Mordechai commander of the Harel police station. “The investigation is ongoing.”

Faris Mustapha Ali, the father’s lawyer from the public defense office said that “they are devoted parents against whom a complaint was never filed. According to the father it was just a game he was playing with his daughter, and naturally there was no intention to hurt the baby. It must be pointed out that the incident lasted several seconds and that the child was in no way hurt.”

Landlord wanted to put up the rent by 60. Not a lot but the place isn’t cheap as it is. A quick look on daft told me there was a similar house for rent in the area for just another 40 more than that, but crucially it had parking and was far better furnished and a bit larger. I pointed this out and asked would she reconsider the increase. She came back and said she’d only raise by 40.

I think it’s pure thick. I’m just going to start looking for a better place and move, by the time she finds new tenants she’ll lose more in rent than this raise will get her in a year. Cutting off her nose to spite her face.
