A crude but somewhat accurate description of gaelic football goalkeeping pre Cluxton.

Now goalkeepers need to be supremely accurate kickers of the ball from hand and tee while also requiring the ability to take on a playmaker role when called upon.

A revolutionary change from Feargal Byron’s big toe it most certainly is.

From a quick sweep earlier, there are no pictures on the walls of Parnells GAA clubhouse of Stephen Cluxton with Sam Maguire despite bringing it back there the Monday after an All Ireland final 4 out of the last 5 years.

I was at a function there a couple of years ago when Dublin were playing Cork in a league semi final. Half time with Dublin losing they switched over to a Liverpool game on all the tvs in the bar.
