Sandycove and Glasthule (and underrated vs. Dalkey) are better because of the ease of getting around. Dalkey is still objectively an excellent place to live.
Adare. Cratloe.
Foxrock. Nothing but traffic really
Yeah - never really got the attraction vs a Dalkey (sea/village/pubs/restaurants/transport etc) or the likes of Ranelagh/Rathgar etc which have good pubs/restaurants etc and very close to town
Apocryphally the only town in Ireland with no pub.
Same could be said for Stillorgan. If you work or socialise a lot in town itâd be a pain in the hole to live there.
Itâs about twenty minutes from town. Easier live there than anywhere on west side for town.
Traffic on west side of Dublin is a whole other level of shite.
i like dalkey. theres a real community spirit there and they shop local to keep the local businesses afloat. they also told those purveyors of coffee flavoured water, starbucks, to GTFO
The west side of Dublin is a hellhole so not overrated though. Itâs hardly 20 minutes from Stillorgan to town at peak times is it? It would take me 20 minutes from Ringsend at that time.
i hope youre walking
I cycle everywhere apart from the supermarket bro.
Underrated part of Dublin is Clondalkin village.
Rest of it - not so much.
South side of Dublin City
No pub in Annestown, County Waterford. Never has been. Old school Protestant village. No pub in Sutton, Dublin originally a Scots Presbyterian settlement. There is a hotel though.
Often thought about buying on the Hill of Howth but eventually concluded that the premium for a view wasnât worth it. Especially when I can walk 15 minutes for the same view if I wanted it.
But big into flying model airplanes.
Youâd get to Stephens Green on Luas in about 20 Iâd say
I was thinking driving but yeah fair enough.
The beautiful Liffey Valley (I donât mean the shopping centre, thatâs a hellhole) in West Dublin boasts the finest bus corridor in the city. Seven minutes to Heuston Station, 15 to Bachelorâs Walk.
In 30 yearsâ time when they finally put a pedestrian/cycle corridor over the derelict Guinness bridge to Farmleigh and the Strawberry Hall pub it will be the number one place to live in the entire city.
