Motherwell v Celtic

I am disappointed by Bandage and Rocko’s failure to address this point,

Good goal by Omaja.

Really poor goal to concede there. Mulgrew had done well on the first ball up but Rogne was really naive to commit and still be second best. Mulgrew was always going to be outpaced but even then Forster should never have been beaten at his near post.

Rogne’s indecision and lack of pace shown up there for the goal. Forster could have done better also perhaps.

Smashing play by Watt for Hooper’s goal - he works the channels brilliantly.

Collision was clearly accidental but Mulgrew needed to be more careful there. He tripped him, albeit accidentally, and that’s just sloppy defending.

FFS

Lenny out

FFS. Higdon is off there but Lustig needed to do better. Not much help from Rogne either.

Fairly embarrassing start to the second half. Really sloppy and unprofessional.

Fucking hell we’re woeful at the back. Rogne playing his way out of the club. Caught hopelessly out of position again there when he was spun on the halfway line and he was running in quicksand getting back.

Agreed on Rogne. Grim viewing, although it’s probably tough coming back in after playing so little.

McGeouch for Rogic. Not a great performance from Rogic - could have done with a bit more help, particularly from Samaras when he was out left, but he looks like he has a bit of work to do on his fitness and physicality before he can be a threat on the ball.

That was a splendid ball from McCourt to Stokes.

Stokes hits the post in a separate incident just there. Stokes has been very dangerous since coming in.

That was a dire second half. We’ve been conceding goals at an alarming rate over the past few months, albeit our first choice centre halves weren’t involved today.

The shape doesn’t look right when we play with 3 attackers and an attacking midfielder - opponents seem to have too much space down the flanks and the midfield looks unbalanced.

Watt was a bright spark but struggling to think of any other positives.

I’m wondering what’s the best formation and midfield combination for the cup final with Wanyama and Kayal suspended and Brown likely to be unfit.

Nice pun.

Watt was probably the only one who was passable but even then he was a little wasteful as the game went on. Wouldn’t blame him though. Everyone else was either poor or dreadful. I’d give Kayal and Lustig credit for showing some effort despite playing badly.

What about the midfield for the Cup Final though, bhoys?

I wouldn’t be too keen on Mulgrew and Ledley in a 4-4-2. What else can we do? Play Ambrose in a defensive midfield role? He’s always seems averse to starting McCourt in central midfield, unless it’s a friendly or testimonial! It doesn’t look like Rogic is ready, same goes for McGeouch. When we overload the attacking players, we leave ourselves open so I don’t think he’ll play three strikers and, say, Commons in behind. It’s a tough one to figure out.

I wouldn’t like that ideally but I think Rogic has no chance after today and while McCourt was creative he lost the ball easily a few times.

Ledley and Mulgrew are both certain to play. I don’t see Izzy getting dropped and the likes of Paddy starting so Mulgrew or Ambrose will probably be pushed forward and the former is more comfortable there.

Still some decisions over the attackers and wingers. Samaras, Hooper, Forrest and Commons will probably play with Stokes on the bench. In that lineup it would be very much a 4-2-2-2.
