1330 kick off. A chance to extend our lead at the top of the table.
Interesting to see any changes from Wednesday. Didn’t hear of any injuries post game but Abada did seem to pull up before being replaced. Probably cramp though. Rogic and Maeda will be back available and Bitton too.
We’ve been doing a bit of chopping and changing of full backs recently but think Scales moved down the line last week. Could still see Ralston but think it’s between the first choice pair and Ralston for the short term.
I would urge the players that read TFK to be wary of today after Wednesday. It took 6 months to get back to top spot and we don’t want to give it up again straight away.
There was a chap called Walter Smith who was a big name at one of those defunct clubs, Third Lanark or Rangers or Gretna or one of those, and he used to speak about the importance of the game after a big derby when the winners would often give the points straight back. I do think this team is made of strong stuff but it appears to be a mucky old day in Scotland and we’ll need to have our wits about us to bring the 3 points back on the M8.
Indeed. And they’ve a tricky assignment at home to Hearts after our game. I see a narrative has emerged in the usual quarters since Friday’s press conferences that Rangers dominated on Wednesday night after the 25th minute, aside from Celtic’s two quick fire goals before half time. I hope Celtic letting them do all the second half running when the game was well and truly won already will have a knock on effect on their energy levels today. Hearts can be doughty opponents on any given day.
This is terrific stuff yet again. Thought we were really good for the opening 20 without scoring, pinned them in completely. Beaton got involved for 5-10 minutes then and kept penalising Celtic ridiculously and they briefly got into the game a bit. But then the glut of goals, first and third beautifully crafted and finished, and a superb strike by Rogic for the second. Abada has been central to everything, yet he could have played Maeda in twice and Rogic was walking the ball into an empty net on another occasion when Abada acrobatically put it in from an offside position.
Frightening the options we have now in the middle with everyone fighting for places. If we really flex the muscles and release a few more on we could demolish these second half
