What does your pal say about kilamanjaro ?

What aspect are you talking about?

Walking it over 7-10 days

It takes getting if you’re not in some bit of shape already

I’ve nearly 11 months to get ready

Ah you’ve time so. Altitude can be an issue, and you’d be taking a lot of immuno/gastric tablets to get ready for it as well.

@fran did kilamanjaro a few years back, be the one to ask

You’ll be grand as long as you take your time. Do plenty of hiking in the meantime. The altitude is more likely to stop you than fatigue so take it nice and easy.

A pal of mine did it years ago. Wouldn’t have been a particularly fit guy at the time. Did a lot of hikes in Galtees and Wicklow in advance. Said he couldn’t stop puking at the top from the altitude. One of their crew had to turn around very close to the top because he was so sick. There might be some altitude gyms around where you can get a tad more prepared that way?

Buy an oxygen tent

Ya few girls I went to college with did it. All in good shape, half of them had to turn back from the sickness.

Think that’s the big problem. That and Johnny Kilamanjaro has another tour to do the day you are supposed to be back at the bottom, so he’s not pacing himself for you to get aclimatised or giving you a days rest etc

I’d say that’d be some experience. If you can handle the altitude (and apparently it’s hard to know whether you can or you can’t until you get there) you’ll have a blast. Do plenty hiking to get ready
