Mountbatten

ncc and the Puke arguing the toss about India, some thred this

not just india sledge- the whole fuckin subcontinent

Sorry, I can’t keep track with your knowledge, it’s so vast :pint:

Blowing up some old duffer in a fishing boat. Wouldn’t really be what I’d consider a legitimate target.

A blow to British rule by killing an old man going fishing?

I’m surprised a five year old Zara Phillips wasn’t shot dead at a gymkhana.

Blowing up a creche would have caused a consternation in Britain, doesn’t mean it’s justified.

No was a different one on TV3

Stop trying to link the attack against military targets at Warrenpoint with the killing of a doddery old fisherman tying flies in Sligo.

fuck him the auld cunt, there was an rte crew down after the bombing an they were in a field with an auld farmer who was puttin up hay and they said to him what did ye think when ye heard the boom and he said “there goes mountbatten”,good riddans, pity his nephew wasnt with him

I like cake.
a good article here about 500,000 people dead due to mountbattens decision

http://www.chowk.com/articles/5104

hopefully RTE mention this & dont portray him as a lovable old sailor
A very interesting article NCC. However it would suggest that Mountbatten’s “crime” was not the partition but rather the timing of it. Partition was inevitable as the Muslim population in Pakistan and Bangladesh wanted to be separate from India, but even Muhammad Ali Jinnah (the “father” of Pakistan) was alarmed at the timing.

The article emphasises strongly that without the release of the Mountbatten papers, most of what is said can only be speculative, but it seems to suggest that one reason that Mountbatten rushed the partition was an attempt to ensure that India would retain most of the territory and that Pakistan would eventually be forced to rejoin the Indian federation.

The article also suggests that Montbatten’s actions were at least partially explained by his liberal political beliefs, explaining that when, as the experienced members of the Raj had anticipated, order broke down "Mountbatten was hesitant in ordering their arrests, because no crimes had been committed and his liberal political inclinations did not allow him to arrest people on the mere suspicion of an illegal act. As Ismay would go on to suggest, had Mountbatten done what to the other viceroys was second nature and dealt with the lawbreakers harshly, the law and order situation would not have been so deplorable. ".

And again: “According to Sir Paul Corfield, the Political Advisor for the states, Mountbatten’s progressive views seemed to clash with the politics of the princely states and Mountbatten did not like the idea that princes could, on their own choice, settle the fate of their subjects by opting for independence. The principle of hereditary and a lack of democratic choice offended Mountbatten.

It also describes Mountbatten’s close ties with Nehru: “Nehru saw Mountbatten as a liberal with a rebellious streak - a person who was not a typical British royalty, but a progressive looking and thinking British member of royalty. The fact that both, Nehru and Mountbatten, had socialist leanings would cause them to admire each other”.

So, in summary, he opposed internment, didn’t want a lasting partition, had liberal/socialist views and favoured democratic choice. Sounds like a poster boy for NCC then.

Not only was he a nonce but there is strong rumours that he had chronic dandruff. Apparently they found his Head & Shoulders on the beach.

Mountbatten was a nonce. The IRA was largely made up of nonces. If only they had sat down and talked they would have found more in common than divided them.

MI5 is the biggest nonce ring in the world, the British cabinet and the Royals have had their nonce tendencies covered up and protected for years now.
