Baggies ready to make McCourt move

May 16, 2008

Newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion are expected to make a move for Derry City star Paddy McCourt this summer, according to a Friday morning newspaper report.

McCourt, 24, has been one of the star performers in the eircom League of Ireland in recent seasons but after a spell at Rochdale earlier in his career, he is said to be keen on making another tilt at success across the water.

He is out of contract in November and the Irish Sun reports that West Brom boss Tony Mowbray is ready to make a move for the mercurial winger.

The report also claims that Scottish Premier League outfit Dundee United are interested, but the Baggies who sealed their return to the Barclays Premier League by winning the Coca-Cola Championship two weeks ago are regarded as favourites for his signature.
