Bailout for Munster rugby

Munster Rugby is on life support in Limerick city.
The only thing keeping it alive are the west brits below in Cork.
They lost €2m this year and 70% of the (very few tickets) they actually managed to sell to games were sold outside Limerick.
A lot of social climbing/aspiring Tipp fucks attend these too… A lot of Limerick lads have gone back to the club game.

Thats great to see, its what made Munster Rugby strong in the first place. I can see a resurgence in the not too distant future.
Reading between the lines there, without the forebearance of the IRFU Munster would be insolvent.

The loss would have been 2.2m only for the IRFU giving them a bit of a help.
A rough calculation would indicated Munster have posted combined losses in excess of 5m for the past 5 seasons. So on average they are losing a million quid a year.

He’d be better off giving up on that aul Limerick GAA, if this place is anything to go by, they don’t like him, don’t want him, and don’t appreciate him. Could you imagine if he threw his lot in behind the footsoldiers of Munster Rugby? They’d adore him.
Ah tis more like the Limerick crowd are great for a bandwagon. If Munster Rugby are successful again, they’ll all be fully fledged members of the Red Army again.

Seems a lifetime ago that they were travelling all the way from Ballybeg, Ballynanty, Ballyporeen and Bantry to half way across the globe to the south of France and Cardiff on their Robinson Crusoe type escapades. All without match tickets of course.

Absolutely, they would have been gone 3 years ago if the IRFU hadn’t rearranged the terms of the Thomond loan. Their cash pile was seriously depleted 2 years ago. With the kind of losses they’ve made since they’re either sitting in a large overdraft or the IRFU have transferred them a lot of cash during the year. Guess we’ll see when the IRFU’s financial statements come out.
