Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 1)

Thereā€™s a total over the top reaction to unexpected, tragic deaths of celebrities in this country. A fella in Limerick outside Thomand Park on the news earlier said the loss of Anthony Foley to Limerick would be ā€œincalculableā€. Eh, come on but thatā€™s just a ridiculous statement. Personally had i passed him in William Street a week ago i wouldnā€™t have looked twice at him and neither would most Limerick people bar 5% who used to follow Munster rugby ten years ago. Iā€™d have known who he was alright but thatā€™s it. Youā€™d swear Limerick will struggle to move forward after this the way your man was going on earlier on the news. By all means say he was a fine chap, he will be fondly remembered, he will be sadly missed, he was a fine rugby player etc but spare me the other faux hysteria that the world will stop because of this. Obviously it is dreadful for his family but the rest of the world will move on from this and there will be a different tragic death to talk about soon.

Ah, now you are just being silly.

We had that in 1994 and 1996

Wait til Kirby dies and is buried alongside his fingers.

Itā€™s fucking ridiculous. I passed Thomond Park today and there was people standing around staring at the gates where a few jerseys had been hung, strange behavior. 42 year olds die every day, thatā€™s life.

For generationā€™ blow everything out of proportionā€™ use the following guide:

Anthony Foley dying = sad for family and friends.
School bus going off a cliff = tradegy.

All this proves for a good share of posters on this forum is that mortality is alive and kicking. It prob ably turned the shit side ways in most of us at the wrong side of 40

Jaysus I donā€™t think so. Where did Princess Diana die? How many children had she?

New phone Fagan. Give me a few days. Iā€™ll get the daughter to sort it out

I think thatā€™s a fair comment

Same type of coverage when Paidi died. Guess this is just magnified because he was actually coaching Munster when it happened. Also Foley was an everyman. A typical Irishman. Grumpy as fuck but loyal to a fault. And a stone cold legend of the game.

But people do get very carried away with the soft talk alright. Newstalk have gotten 10 hours of coverage out of it since yesterday Iā€™d say and be in no doubt Foley would be the first to point out to them that they hadnā€™t given munster a fucking mention bar criticising them, and him by extension, for a few seasons

Youā€™re failing at the strong text for the last three weeks, Mike.

A typical Irishman is grumpy and loyal?

What?

Funnily enough I heard a fella on the radio say that Foley used to drive their school bus the odd day when his old man wasnā€™t around and they used get home about ten minutes quicker
