Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 2)

That could well happen, I just donā€™t see him coming back here.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

Heā€™ll do it when theyā€™re either better funded or have better players

Bums on seats and a competitive Munster means more money for the Irfu. I wouldnā€™t be worried about his behaviour.

Said as much myself elsewhere. Both last won the European Cup in 2008 before events in 2008/09 (An Abu Dhabi takeover at City and Leinster hammering them in Croker) saw their blue rivals wrestle control of the rivalry. Both managers whoā€™ve been sacked this week won Diddy Cups against their rivals who had bigger fish to fry too. Albeit Munster still had to win in South Africa after beating Leinster in 2023.

I canā€™t envisage ROG jumping with joy at the thought of taking the Munster job right now, although it would be Box Office. Iā€™d be interested to see the odds list for next Munster head coach. Felix Jones to take on a more senior coaching role perhaps? Paul Oā€™ Connell would hardly leave the Ireland set-up. Bernard Jackman perhaps (lol).

Itā€™s mad the way Leinster and Liverpool fans figured winning no cups is better than winning some cups.

Delusion knows no bounds I guess.

Leinster are a vastly superior team to Munster, the results of games between the two over the last number of years shows this. Leinster are competing at the business end of the league and Champions Cup every season and should probably have had a couple of doubles over the last four seasons.

Munster are nowhere in the Champions Cup and were lucky to win the URC, if Leinster didnā€™t have a Champions Cup final the following weekend they would have gone stronger in the URC semi and beaten Munster. But, fair play to Munster as they went on and won the final and it was good to see an Irish team win it.

I think Leinster have a good chance of winning both competitions this season.

Oh I wouldnā€™t argue with that.

Leinster benefit massively from the funding in the
Private schools and then tend to make up the bulk of the Irish underage teams.

Then they have the bulk of the central contracts so they can create massive squad depth.

It is no surprise they are totally dominant. Itā€™s like a Skoda v a Ferrari in a race.

I said it a number of times the Irfu should rebalance things.

When Leinster won their first European cup they three foreign front rowers on the books and three more niq players. Thatā€™s what got them over the line.

I donā€™t agree with the irfus recent policy. Iā€™d be signing two propers at Munster straight away. That way theyā€™d be competitive in Europe. It gives the edogbos, gleeson, Crowley and the likes a real chance to develop. That would only help Ireland.

Trying to build a team with a scrum on wheels isnā€™t easy. I donā€™t understand the idea myself.

I couldnā€™t see ROG touch the Munster job. Would Pat Lam be gettable?

Knows the Irish scene (knows the club, Jeff).

On munsters European campaigns Leinster and Toulouse are miles ahead of everyone. The French teams can vary on quality but it is not unrealistic to be securing a home game in the last sixteen. You give yourself every chance of making the 1/4s then and keep the money coming in.

I donā€™t think itā€™s realistic for Munster to make the last four in Europe. That being said - the group stage performances last year werenā€™t up to expectations

Standard unrealistic Munster fan stuff.

I think bagging a home last 16 tie is very realistic. Build a base from that.

Iā€™d agree with that

Munster acting promptly to get their prime target ten haag.

Who are you blaming for this?

Oā€™Gara is making a fortune and I think heā€™ll only come back to Irish rugby in 4/5 years once he has built up a pension pot.

I donā€™t blame anyone really but itā€™s a bitter pill for Munster.

Not everyone thinks like you tim.
