Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 2)

Wtf…including him in same sentence as Michael Corcoran FFS

And he wasn’t on a coaching ticket. He was the team manager

Always comes back to ROG with the Leinster fans…rent…free…

The level of injuries in Munster is an issue for a decade or more I don’t know can you pin that on Rowntree

That is correct

Easier back Costello out of it after. I doubt Prendergast that interested in top job. You’d end up doing far less coaching than you’d like

This seethe is the answer to it really

Good thing they sent him to Shannon. Honestly forcing the idea of converting a high school football player into an international prop is madness

Fun fact. Both Costello and Prendergast played on the same underage soccer team. Prendergast scored to beat the team I was on in an underage city cup final. Both were pretty good soccer and gaelic footballers, and obviously good rubby players.

A lot of Munsters problems stem from the absolute bollox they made of their academy for about ten years. To remain near the top level they have to produce players as they’ll never be able to buy it all in La Rochelle/Toulon style. There’s clearly a talent pipeline - not at the volume of Leinsters (few are) but enough to provide a first team player or two a year. Look at Munster squad and the absolute averageness between your POM/Murray to the younger guys Crowley/Casey/Coombes etc.

That’s all on Munster and while they seem to have gotten it sorted it now it’ll take a good while to really catch back up

They cooked the books 15 years ago.

But that isn’t really relevant anyway.

How did they end up developing Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk, Greg Inglis, Izzy Folau, Cameron Munster and many others? Nicho Hines didn’t make it with Manly, but they then developed him and he now is one of the best paid players.

Scouting and development matters.

I dunno, don’t really care.

I do find it funny that there are benefactors (who @BruidheanChaorthainn) in the background and find it telling that their cash spend seems to focus on the splash items (including ones not involving Munster).

Of course Tim because that money pales into comparison what’s invested into the private schools from year one on in school.

But maybe bring up Doug howlett again.

Leinster have absolutely everything in their favour. It’s completely rigged in their favour and like any other time in Irish rugby they were given any foreign player they liked because off the bed wetting in finals.

The two salaries mentioned combined were 7 figures.

That would fund 3 rugby programmes.

And make the senior totally uncompetitive while Leinster have 11 players paid for by the Irfu and allowed sign a Galaxy of world stars Witt the rules changed any time they want.

Meanwhile they still wouldn’t compete with the private schools and Leinster would still dominate the Irish 19s and 20 teams.

It’s amazing how you always want more despite having everything handed to you. Have you any shame at all?

Really? It’s called long term investment.

RTÉ talking about Jones being linked with the job.

He ended on woeful terms with Munster.

I only take a passing interert in Rugby these days. Leinster obviously have all the advantages and there’s no arguing wltk that. Munster should be doing better than they are though in terms of player and club develotment again no argument. Rowntree seems a totally decent sort but if he has lost the dressing room it had to be the end. Prendy is a great lad, salt of the earth as we’d say in Limerick and knows his stuff, not sure he’d want the top job.

They won’t allow teams sign front rowers to help Ireland but they sanction jordi Barrett and rj Synman who’ll be taking minutes off Irish players.

A lot less games now and very few in between the international breaks now.

If leinster get Robbie Henshaw and Gary ringrose on central contracts and the gift is jordi Barrett I’d love to know where you expect Munster to start competing.

You’d see it regularly in gaa where one club completely dominates a county championship it rarely benefits the county team.

They are creating a rosenbourg situation. Any economic down turn and you’ll see the chasm grow further.

They make very little effort to bring the Irish team out and about.

There should be open camps in cork,Limerick, Galway and Belfast regularly.

You can see the detachment compared to 10 or 11 years ago.

What are Munster doing to help themselves? It just seems to be a non-stop whingefest about Leinster and the IRFU.
