Huge criticism that there are too many former players involved who wonât make the ruthless decisions needed
In what world are Flannery and Jones gonna leave the springboks ahead of the RWC and on the verge of creating history FFS ![]()

Munster leadership donât have the best track record in getting these decisions right though, so maybe they got it wrong again.
Is that in the officials roles or the coaching roles? I do think there is something to maintaining the culture and identity by promoting homegrown coaches.
Good point but theyâre only assistant coaches, itâs not beyond all possibility given they could get increased responsibility and more likely better pay. Or maybe they agree to join up from a year out.
Donât they?
Erasmus and Van Gran were two good appointments who didnât work out for wildly different reasons.
We had Erasmus and Nienabar at one point in the not so distant past
Rowntree was a good appointment who won a league
Was van graan ever a good fit? I get heâs doing great at bath but all he seemed to want to do at Munster was sign big south African second row who could run over people.
V good coach but didnât have the playersâŠsame as now
Heâs obviously doing really well, but being able to assemble a group of players you want to play the way you want is different to being able to figure out how to play to to get the best out of the group of players you have. Iâm not sure he was the man to do the latter.
Maybe he did get the best out of the group he had? He lost two away European semi finals and got knocked out by Toulouse two seasons in a row (one one pens?)
Id fairly take that level of âfailureâ now
The former players - Killian Keane and Mick OâDriscoll iirc are the key off field decision makers in the Munster hierarchy.
Where did you hear that?
Keane used to be a serious high flyer with Goldman Sachs havenât heard of him in years
Driscoll has some health care business
Maybe they are involved but itâs part time
They are part of the âProfessional Game Committeeâ who select the head coach.
The PGC, chaired by long-time Munster Board member John Hartery CEO and comprising independent nominees and former players Billy Holland, Killian Keane, John Kelly, Mick OâDriscoll, and Munster Branch Finance Committee chairperson Tom Kinirons also had Rowntree as a non-voting member alongside Costello and chief executive Ian Flanagan but there will be no rush to fill the recently vacated chair as far as the Head of Rugby Operations is concerned
Yeah thats a kind of non exec type role makes sense get Keane on it anyway as a door opener and an experienced businessman
Apparently Keane, Holland and OâDriscoll have now resigned from this committee over the Randle hire according to the Indo ![]()

My guess is that this is all going to end very badly with Munster having to replace McMillan.
I suppose itâs hardly unexpected that he might bring in some of his former assistants, this guy has been the Chiefsâ attack coach for a while now.
Surely humphries saw this coming.
If this ends in the way i think surely he should be gone
Irfu came out and said they had no input into appointment of assistant coaches
