Waterford could do with a really thumping win here. Their scoring difference took a battering last week. There’s a reasonable chance that Waterford, Cork and Clare could all end up on 4 points and scoring difference comes into play.

Tom Devine has made some difference this year. Waterford really could have down with him last September. The one positive about the injury crisis is that Derek had to cast off the shackles of his system and the likes of Patrick Curran got a long overdue start as well.

If Waterford win this and beat Cork at home in their last game, Waterford will finish ahead of Cork on head to head. I flagged that for you last night when you were predicting Cork to hammer Waterford last game and go on to beat Galway in the final.

Waterford might have to beat Cork by a certain margin if Clare end up on 4 points too.
But the more you look at it, Cork v Waterford on the final day could well be straight knockout.
