Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2023 (Part 1)

I appreciate that they can’t show every game on terrestrial TV, and I guess the extra streaming options are good but it does seem like a missed opportunity not to have brought TG4 into the mix.

Even if it was one game a weekend.

Looks like no televised broadcast at all on Saturday week.

Sat 29 April
USFC Semi-Final 1 GAAGO
MSHC Limerick v Clare GAAGO
Sun 30 April
LSFC Semi Finals x 2 GAAGO
LSHC Kilkenny v Galway RTÉ
MSHC Cork v Waterford RTÉ

There are no Televised games on Saturday’s at all going forward is my understanding bar maybe a BBC Broadcast while the Ulster Championships are going ahead.

Limerick v Clare was probably the best game of last year. A repeat under lights in front of a big crowd was an absolute no brainer to carry live.

Clare v Tipp, Limerick v Clare and Cork v Tipp all not shown live - I don’t think it’s anything to do with the split season and more to do with that ape McBennett not having a clue what he’s doing.

Absolutely. Separate arguments.

The split season is a key reason Sky pulled out… which put the GAA in a difficult position.

They should have cut their losses and just given the Saturday games to RTE/TG4 for next to nothing but greed has got in the way and they want people to pay 79 euro to logon to a laptop and connect up HDMI’s etc which is a task most people over 50 cant do.

All the round robin games are meaningless anyway.

Will Bang have the GAAGo games?

There a few later on alright but none in the early stages.

Do lads want every single game of the Championship televised on terrestrial tv?

That would appear to be the case.

Would that be so terrible?

@peddlerscross Its the worst ever Munster Championship, attendances are down and no one wants to see it.

Also @peddlerscross WHY ARENT ALL THE GAMES FREE FOR ME TO WATCH ON RTE!

Not at all. Shur, maybe RTE and the GAA should pay you to sit on your hole at home and watch it as well?

Being an ex-pat means I’ll be travelling for all Limerick games so won’t see alternative games that same day regardless. Saturday night games should be on free to air but obviously some of these glamour ties are being used to sell gaago so what can one do except call bang

I dont think it would be a nightmare for the GAA if every game was available on terrestrial TV. I actually think long-term it could boost interest and attendances

What evidence have you to back up your belief that more televised games will lead to greater attendances at games?

Basically they’ve made some fuck of the whole thing. Too many games on and less games televised makes no sense.

@BruidheanChaorthainn is right. The whole thing could be dead in 10 years if they let it continue like this.
