Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2023 (Part 1)

Where did you get the cup?
It was hard to make out at first…

Tell on. What is his role and what has he done? Going for an underage double in Munster a few years after being wiped by Cork in a minor game IIRC. Some lovely players on both teams

Googled Limerick hurling on images and saw it there, it could go the way of Challenger next Sunday.

As soon as he finishes up with Clare he went back in with the Clare under 14s in 2020. Brought a ball of young coaches with him and had brought through this group of players and coaches with the 22/23 minors. Very much a figurehead who is available to council and advise all managers/coaches/mentors involved with all the development squads.

Go and get Eamon O’Shea on a new management ticket. There’s hurlers there he could work with and he would implement a proper style of hurling.

He wouldn’t take it.

Waterford need one of their own in charge, someone still young and with intercounty managerial experience. That man is Stephen Molumphy.

Got back involved with the squads at u16 and engaged in underage competitions for schools. So despite being somewhat shafted for the senior job in the Autumn in 2019 he got back involved. We’ve now reached the lastt 2 minor finals (we werent bad at minor for a couple of years but the 40 point beating told you where it was going).

He has worked with our development teams now and thats producing a nice crop.

@Big_Dan_Campbell has explained it better.

He is also sound out from what I know of him and that makes a difference.

I would have had a lot of dealings with Donal Moloney around the 2010-2016 period.

Sound as a trout, no bullshit and a seriously smart hurling man. Probably better suited to the underage/developmental side than senior IC, Clare certainly have him in the right role.

Logan is absolutely anything but a boring fucker, and he is far from a big standard steady as she goes. He’s absolutely outstanding imho.

Can’t see O’Shea traipsing from Salthill to Waterford a few times a week.

Most of us wouldn’t have wanted him then though.

Can’t see anyone with any self respect going to Waterford after their CB brought back Davy. Who could work with muppets like that?

Lot to be said for the old format where you put up a massive fight then bow out.
Waterford fans being put through the ringer with the new system having to watch them get spankings week after week

Waterford should have given Pat Ryan the job a couple of years back cc @fenwaypark

It would have done him the world of good. Id imagine the next Waterford manager will be Ben O Connor or Pat Mulcahy.

I thought a leadership group of players interviewed Pat Ryan when he was in the running. He cited health reasons then and later pulled out.

There’s only one man fit to manage such a diverse group of hurlers.

And they wouldn’t be spending their time hitting the ball against a wall.

Unless the wall was a constraint or the lack of constraints was in fact a constraint itself.

I was impressed by Ben o Connor post game after beating Limerick. He’ll manage cork soon.
