Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2023 (Part 1)

He is likely to be the best of them.

We are also very lucky the kids have gone through and unprecedented period of success which will drive numbers and keep the county at a competitive level for the forseeable.

Tipp are poor at minute. Cahill has done a decent job blooding new lads but the overall talent ain’t there. Jack Ryan being thrown on the other day is proof of it. I don’t ever recall him being a standout at club.

Tipp for the next few years will be capable of beating anyone on their day but being unable to back it up over a season.

He is the best sweeper in the game. Not so hot when he has to mark a center forward. He also has two generational wing backs playing either side of him and constant cover from WOD.

Is he any better than Brian Hogan was for Kilkenny?

I think there are a good few of backs that have played in recent years with potential to be fine intercounty players.

:joy::joy::joy:

Hogan while a fine player hadn’t half the hurling Hannon has FFS.

Ok. Is he any more effective than Brian Hogan who played between the two best wing backs of all time for a decent period of his career? When was the last time you saw Hannon play for Adare? I’m sure he is lighting it up for them

Yes, far more effective. Hogan a fine player in the all time greatest team, but he didn’t have close to the range of ability Hannon has. If you have to ask I can only guess you haven’t been watching.

I’d be confident that I have seem more Limerick senior hurling matches in the flesh than you. Hannon was consistently destroyed for Adare last year when playing at 6

I highly doubt it and irrelevant.

Hannon has played most of his hurling for Adare at centre forward in recent years ffs.

He played at 6 last year. Most clubs use one of their intercounty players at centre back and they stand out, did Hannon?

None of the Limerick lads are too bothered about playing for their clubs.

Patrickswell aren’t getting 10 percent out of Gillane, Byrnes and Lynch.

Once the inter county stuff ends it’s party time for the Limerick squad.

Adare is a football club, bizarre to put their hurling woes at the door of their best player. Certainly wouldn’t use the word ‘destroyed’ but that’s your prerogative.

Four All-Ireland’s at centre back with the five Munster titles to go with it. That’s an ok record.

Come back to me when John Conlon has half that won.

Lads talking about a centre half back marking a lad are living in the 90s

In last year’s Championship, Hannon pushed on way more because of the step-up from Nash and cleaned out most forwards that went up directly against him. He is an unbelievable hurler and when he’s absent, we’ve not been the same.

He obviously shouldn’t have been at 6 for Adare last year, what a waste at club level, leaving a player as good as him in a position where he can’t attack. But that’s down to Adare’s management making terrible decisions, not Hannon. He did fine at centre-back defensively but his effectiveness was limited as most teams just avoided the middle at all costs, and he was always fully marked for short puckouts, etc.

At 11, the year before, he was their best player by a country mile, sadly for us.

I’d say the vast majority of intercounty hurls don’t stand out for their clubs. Patrickswell only get consistent performances from Byrnes.

Hannon was receiving letters of abuse in the post from Limerick fans after 2013.

Ah tbf, Gillane is unbelievable for the Well, he gets double-marked by practically every team. Or they play a sweeper right in front of him.

Any time he’s one-on-one, he scores scandalous amounts.

In Limerick, these county players usually stand out massively.
