He marked Andrew O’ Shaughnessy for a while in a minor match before to be fair.
Waterford managed to cope a hell of a lot better losing TDB than Limerick did with Hannon.
You’d think they’d have handled it a lot better. They were out of sorts and lucky Waterford beat themselves in the end.
A long road back for him now. Hard to see how he can recover. He was so bad that the Tipp forwards weren’t even in his ear giving him stick for his ineptness.
We’re fast heading into “yerra” territory with your ramblings
Limericks game fell apart once hannon went off. Too much reshuffling this time.
It’s happened a few times. 2018 v cork and Dan moved across from half back and had a fine game. We down to 14 that day too.
2019 too and they moved in Kyler before I think Barry mash might have played a bit there in the second half.
It’s clear as day though hannon is incredibly important. Waterford fairly easily shut down Barry nash for large parts of the game.
I wonder will Kyler end up in the forwards again. Pointless having him starved on periphery of the game.
I think most fair minded people would agree with my post.
Limerick were next to useless today from around the 20th minute onwards. Like even the Austin Gleeson run near the end probably doesnt happen if Hannon is around. Similarly Jamie Barron was in acres of space in the centre forward space at one stage looking for a puckout only Billy Nolan didnt see him.
Ah no, Hannon was injured within the first few minutes. He was moving awkwardly for another 10 minutes, he should have been taken off earlier I thought. He had no impact on the game whatsoever other than one bad uncharacteristic ball.
Hopefully its nothing too serious although Dan Morrissey didnt put a foot wrong in his place when he moved up and Mike Casey was good off the bench to step in for Dan.
You’re an awful man.
Was it said here this week there was only 20k at that game? Looks like closer to 30k from the evidence there , certainly a much bigger crowd than today.
Limerick won the game in the first 20 minutes. Thats a fact. Went 1-08 to 0-03 ahead, I think its harsh to say we were useless but - it was a poor performance overall.
Today was Limericks worst performance since 2018. Waterford would have beaten them handy but for bad wides. We will learn a lot about Limericks character as a team this year
Yeah seemed to have some sort of leg injury, was limping a lot. Hit one dreadful ball and that was it.
Don’t feel the poor performance was anything to do with Hannon going off, although because he often opens up teams with intelligent ball you wouldn’t know. Gillane looked like he was going to make hay inside early doors but the supply dropped off. Our long option constantly seemed to be Lynch but Lyons (I think?) made bits of him. I think Tom Morrissey kept us in it tbh, when we needed something he was generally involved somehow.
It was a dreadful game in one sense but was utterly absorbing. I had written off Waterford but if they bring that kind of intensity agin Cork they will make it through, I really hope they do.
Limerick just about do enough on the field and on the internet.
Very good post. It was a dreadful game in one sense, but it actually was a real throwback too in another way. Low scoring etc. I kind of walked out of Thurles happy, seething a bit and happy enough again.
Waterford will be sick. Their wides killed them. Even Flanagans goal was one that doesnt happen every day.
Saying that, Limerick always seemed to have an extra gear. Missed the penalty and two other really good goal chances. It was never in doubt but it was a lot closer than most pundits perceived before hand. Credit Waterford - they have serious hurlers.
Will take the win gladly though. Roll on Saturday evening.
As a spectacle though, I enjoyed it. It went to the wire and Waterford deserve credit for that. Calum Lyons, Jack Fagan etc were brilliant. Jamie Barron at times too.
Ozzie Gleeson went through at the end of the game. Could have been a goal on another day. Fine margins.
That’s what hurling was like up to 2018.
Another big game passes Tony Kelly by, he’ll inevitably have an absolute blinder next Saturday night.
Waterford will have so many regrets. Limerick were way off it. Kiely and Co secretly delighted, play mediocre but win. 3 months away from when hoping to peak.
For all his faults, Gillane is a man to stand up when it gets tough. He has some paw. That score from play off his right when threading water was unreal. Even with an extra man Waterford never looked like scoring a goal bar a hit and hope.
Best wishes to Tadhg de Burca. Outstanding player and seems a decent guy too. Hope he is back soon, a really classy player.
I couldn’t believe it when I saw him go down again. He has had some rough road the last few years. The best of luck to the guy.
The man seems cursed. Hope it’s not too bad. He’s like a magnet in how he reads the game. Hoovers it up wherever it goes.
Was sad to see De Burca go down injured. He was hurling very well up until that point too. Hopefully he has a swift recovery. Class hurler.
