Neither have been strong all Ireland contenders at the same time over the last 30 years really aside from maybe at the turn of the century and they only met once in those three years.
Cork also had some good contests with Waterford when they were at their peak in the mid-2000s but, yeah, they haven’t really had great teams overlapping with each other for a while.

It’s a fair enough point to be honest, the Killarney game was very good, the Aisake game was enjoyable,
So I won’t argue, but it’s history, I’m probably a good bit older than you and there’s no game I’d rather attend in a vacuum. It would be in Thurles and the sun would be shining.

The bag of hurleys trick worked well for St. Martins against St Annes in the Wexford senior hurling quarter-final a couple of years ago.

I thought the Clare backs were very good yesterday at getting out in front of the Waterford forwards.
In all fairness though they’d sicken your hole when they get going Cork are the biggest draw in hurling and bring a whole new level of razzmatazz to big games.

Cork are in the rare position of waiting for a result to unfold for the week. They’ll be training during the week but it could be all in vain if Limerick draw with Waterford. It’s similar to the South Africans waiting on the result of Ireland v Scotland in the 2023 rugby World Cup, Turkey waiting on the Ireland v Italy game at Euro 2016 or Tipp waiting on the outcome of the 2022 Joe McDonagh cup final between Antrim and Kerry.
The Cork Examiner will be publishing articles questioning the ethics of the final round fixture like the Turks after we beat a scratch Italian team in Lille.

Darragh Fitz has been castigated for what he can’t (doesn’t) do, but he can do things that very few others can
