eh? Kerry have won more matches against Northern opposition than they have lost in the last 25 years , they have beaten every county from the North they have played( except Down) beaten some of them on numerous occasions
This is gas, a Limerick throws a dirty dig at Tipp re âgreat pantheonâ of Tipp chokes and then all sensitive when reminded of the 1994 choke and a heap of posts follow about Kerry losing to âevery Nordie sideâ âevery yearâ etc when stats dont actually come close to supporting this
If Cork win out, beating Limerick and Waterford, Tipp also beat Waterford, then Clare can still qualify if they beat Limerick. Cork would have 7 points, Tipp 5, Limerick and Clare both 3 (with Clare edging it on H2H) and Waterford 2.
So far as I can tell, any other result in any of the 4 games left puts Clare out. Thatâs the only way they survive
If Tipp had another 200 supporters in Ennis yesterday they would have won that at their ease, Clare wouldnât have been able to mount any sort of a comeback.
So hereâs the thing. If youâre going to have a pop for no apparent reason make sure you can back it up rather then picking a random game out of your arse and using it as a benchmark. Was 1994 a choke? Absolutely. But ultimately remembered for what was at stake. So go back and look at the 21 Munster final and the 2007 first replay. The 2007 in particular has more similarities to 1994 as it happened in a similar time frame. Incidentally I donât regard the 1982 football final as a choke. It was a two point lead.
I didnt like the cut off Tipp by the Limerick and that was reason enough for me to have my say . I didnt realise there was such defined rules of engagement on this site that you couldnt get involved unless your own county was slighted
Citing The 1994 All Ireland Hurling Final is hardly picking out a random match, it was far from random so if a Limerick man is furring around digs about choking well hardly surprising that match will come up. I left out the 1996 final against 14 man Wexford
Re 1982, Kerry were odds on favourites going for 5 in a row, the greatest team of all time and when history beckoned - they missed a penalty and conceded a type of a a goal they would rarely ever concede. There is a narrative that on the biggest day ever for them that they choked with the finishing line and history in sight. I dont really agree with that but I have heard it said. It is also highly disrespectful to Offaly, the signs were there that Offaly were coming as a serious side capable of winning an all ireland
