Pat Ryan is probably the only Cork hurling manager of the last 25 years that figured out how to play direct hurling effectively. All the fellas @peddlerscross mentioned should still be there, Ben O’Connor went too far. The young lad from the Bars and Walsh should be there with Horgan and Dalton, horses for courses. Not instead of them.

Not sure we are better than Clare yet. It’s probably close enough. They know Clare inside out though whereas we’re more of a wild card. Liable to do anything. Good or bad.
I like that O’Connor is a bit of a throwback as a manager. But he might be too much of a throwback. Cork probably have the most loaded panel in Ireland, definitely the strongest subs bench. But apart from being forced to take off a corner back in danger of being sent off on 41 mins, the next sib was harnedy on 65 mins and he only used one more sub in the 71st minute. It seems bizarre to me anyway.
Does Dalton definitely not get that last free I wonder. He’s made some rod for his own back. He’s a chip on his shoulder from being North Cork and it has cost him on Sunday. I’d say he’ll be ran if they don’t win the All Ireland.
Cork are at their best when its fast puckouts, and the ball is fizzing around at 100 miles an hour. They need the ball in play as much as possible to use their legs. Their best form of defence is to attack.
Limerick want the ball out of play as much as possible so they can get their shape and set up right. Diarmuid Byrnes standing over free’s killing 30 or 40 seconds off the clock each time helps them to do this.
I dont think Ben has much of a clue what he’s doing with Cork to be honest and its hard to know what way that forward line is supposed to be operating. They don’t even have a coach apparently and its showing. They could still win the All Ireland because they have some fantastic players who’ve the ability to overcome managerial flaws but its being made a lot harder for them than it needs to be.
