True and that was the fear with the missing players all through the spine.
But some of the decision making today, lads running out over the sideline with ball in hand when they were going out. That was very poor. Missed passes and running headlong into traffic and not using the support runners. Puck outs were poor again today. Work rate was way down Iâd say and Clare were sitting back and getting loads of loose ball driven down into two or three of them to tidy up.
I donât even think Clare were that good. They have plenty more to offer and will be delighted with their days work. Won well and have plenty they feel they can tighten up on.
I did think the penalty was harsh but those decisions go against you and you have to get over them.
Last time Liam Cahill managed a side who performed as poorly as this they went on the win the All Ireland afterwards.
5 points and two wides from a midfielder. If every player on the team contributed as much as him weâd have won.
Maybe if he marked someone it may have been different?
Doubt it. He scores 4-5 points every game he plays.
That was the worst Munster championship game i have seen in years. Lack of crowds not helping.
It was terrible. Like a challenge match.
Could have turned it off.
Itâs a joke without spectators
I wonder what the viewing figures were like this weekend.
A lot of people whoâd normally never miss a match seemed to be off looking at cliffs and cycling today.
The interest in hurling is falling at an alarming rate.
The only thing about the short season it does reward teams that win Provincial matches. Itâs a bitch to manage that level of games if you have to come through the backdoor. Previously winning munster was nearly a bugbear with the 4/5 week lay off before semifinal
Waterford were decimated by injuries in 2018 as well. Seem very unlucky in that department. The current set-up will suit them much better than the round robin though. Theyâll probably get Laois or Antrim in the qualifiers and build momentum.
There may well be a bounce in Waterford if they get Barron and Prunty back. Cahill gambled on his panel today but the depth just wasnât there.
Clare fully deserved their win and should have won by a lot more but I suspect that Tipperary will beat them well.
Youâd want to be a right ape of a manager to have a fella like Aussie Gleeson trotting after some fella.
Agree wholeheartedly with that.
Starting Moran ahead of Kieran Bennett was a really bizarre move and a fair black mark against management.
They seemed fairly clueless on the line today.
Thatâs a rubbish statement, lads these days take those on and there is little said if Canning, McGrath or the likes of Tony Kelly miss.
Waterford were like a team trying a new formation/system and never having practised it.
Clare were not great either
You must not have watched many of the 20 round robin series games in Munster in 2018 and 2019. They were nearly all about the same standard and intensity as today.
I hate the way lads criticise a line ball that goes wide ,youâd swear the alternative was guaranteed to find a teammate âŚ
I canât see many tuning in next weekend either .
Lk v Cork is only on Sky and no pubs . Also the game isnât very appetising .
Again Tipp v Clare doesnât seem too attentive after todayâs shambles .
The GAA could be in for a surprise next year if they think folk are going to go back to games in droves next year .
