I fancy Cork .
This game has been completely overshadowed by the drama of the qualifiers.
Sure cork have the cup
Munster is box office always
I think clare have a chance but cork are the team
Just saying to Dad Cork only beat Waterford by 3 Waterford should of had a peno.
will Clare go out and hurl Joe or will it be all “matchups”, “sweepers”, “runners”, etc?
“matchups” is a such a Clare/Waterford term, the low point of hurling was the 2016 drawn league final with mauls, lineouts all de rigeur , can we expect more of the same sunday?
Of all the teams in this year’s championship Joe, both Cork and Galway have been the most impressive. Now Cork will be fairly battle hard coming into this as they have beaten two of the favourites for this year. Clare were good in patches against Limerick but in reality two if not all three of their goals were very preventable.
However I still maintain that if they’re let play with a bit of abandon, they can cause problems for anyone.
However as of today, you would have to say that Cork are ever so slight favourites
Surely you mean Cork only won by three even though Waterford should have had two sent off, Meade should have had a foul in the lead-up to the Waterford goal and Shanahan should have been booked for diving Joe?
I think this will be close. An open, loose game should also suit Clare. They’re probably the only other team with as much pace as Cork. That’s if they go for it.
Clare have no intention of setting up defensively.
no matter how bad Cork are the sight of the red jersey puts the fear of God in Clare and Waterford
Tradition is also on Cork’s side,
its a great time for hurling at the moment as traditional aristocrats of the game like Cork and Wexford are resurgent to battle it out with Tip, KK and Galway for the All Ireland, the old order is been restored for the good of the game
cork to line out with 6 forwards and 6 backs against Clare’s 10 man half back line
It matters not
Cork 1-27
Clare 2-13
De Banks will be sung from the Town End around the 63rd minute and Frank will be in the dugout, rulebook in hand looking forward to the opening of his playground in de park a couple of weeks later
Good.
They weren’t hugely impressive against us but got the win. Need more from Kelly, Podge, etc. If they go out and hurl, it could be a cracker.
This management have never set Clare out in any sort of defensive formation at any level. The only real deviation from the conventional setup at U21 level was the idea of playing two centre forwards, often Tots and Podge.
The Limerick game was a positive in terms of having a three man full-forward line again for the first time in at least 4 years. Facing just one defender instead of being outnumbered by two or three to one gave a new lease of life to the likes of O’Donnell and McGrath.
At the same time a lot of bad habits are still there and five years of programming is not going to be overwritten in six months. There was a lot of tentativeness and over-thinking in the Limerick game that meant they rarely produced flowing passages of play.
The championship is about how much you improve really and how you hurl in June has little enough to do with what happens later. Clare have always tended to hurl better as the summer progresses, but how much ground has been gained in the last month it’s hard to tell. Cork look very sharp and slick already and if we don’t goal early, we may be hanging onto their coat tails for the first half an hour or so.
Ye think very little of limerick only beat by 3 by Kk
Clare never feared cork
Ah now Joe, Clare always feared Cork in truth, possibly barring a couple of years in the 90s.
Are you changing your stance, a Clare victory?
But clare can turn ye
What team would you pick Joe?
