I’m thoroughly confident these four will prevail tonight but I don’t have the odds yet:
Burnley to beat Charlton at home: Burnley are outside the play-off zone but they’re playing very well under Owen Coyle (future Ireland manager) and I think they’ll dispose of a Charlton side on the slide and fresh from a home defeat to Preston at the weekend. If Andrew Cole’s not at home threatening his wife with a huge big blade then I expect him and Kyle Lafferty to earn the spoils for the northerners.
Preston to beat Wolves at home: Preston are climbing rapidly up the table under Alan Irvine (formerly David Moyes’ assistant at Everton) and are playing really well of late. They face a very inconsistent Wolves side tonight and I think they’ll turn them over to raise the pressure on Big Mick who’s likely to respond by signing some other Irish born Sunderland reject on loan - Liam Miller anyone?
Carlisle to beat Luton at home: Nobody beats Carlisle at home - they’re animal on their own patch, as Juhniallio might say. Luton have been in administration, lost all their best players, their manager and are languishing in the relegation zone. No doubts on this one although it could possibly be a draw. Or a shock away win.
Leeds to beat Cheltenham at home: It was only a matter of time before Stan Staunton’s coaching prowess and tactical nous started to reap benefits at Leeds and I’ll think they’ll continue on their merry way after the McAllister / Stan dream team picked up their first home win at the weekend. Cheltenham are lowly and most of their team haven’t travelled as they’re working part time down at the local racecourse this week. I made the last part up but I do think Leeds will win.
Lodged a considerable sum to my betfair account this week end, haven’t had a great start, have lost 12.6% of my bank. Have gone with these tonight to get me back to black:
Wycombe
Ipswich
Swansea
Carlisle -1.0 & -1.5
Bristol City/Watford draw.
Gamey 13/10 and 5/4 Burnley and Preston shouts doing the business and Carlisle doing the business at home as usual. And then there’s fooking Leeds. Whatever possessed me to back Leeds? Another 3/4 and that’s three 3/4 in my last three accumulators and it’s annoying the scheidt out of me.
Tonight:
Bayern
Getafe
Large double
Everton
Hamburg
Spurs
Small treble
I also had Leeds to win last night.
I’m going for Everton, Zenit St Petersburg and Aston Villa in my treble tonight.
Everton - very strong at home and have first-leg revenge in mind.
Zenit St Petersburg - see Everton.
Villa - playing Gareth Southgate’s 'Boro and that’s reason alone to back them, never mind their good form and carrot of a European place next season.
It probably won’t be all that great odds-wise though.
Everton, Hamburg, Villa is a tidy 5-1. Not a blockbuster, but a happy win I reckon.
Rocko rates Leverkusen highly though. Is his opinion worth respecting…Hamburg it is then.
Hamburg have just equalised on the night, well evening actually, to make it 2-2 after 65 minutes. After Leverkusen’s 1-0 home win last week it means Hamburg need another 2 goals to go through. Junhiallio, maybe you should have listened to Rocko after all.
Zenit are winning 2-0 at home to Marseille and it’s nearly over.
Van der Vaart has just put Hamburg 3-2 up on the night so that would do the job for accumulators. They need another goal in the last 5/10 minutes to progress in the tie though.
Everton to come back from 2-0 down with no away goals
Not going to happen

For betting purposes it’s just the win on the night that matters.
For example, Hamburg won 3-2 on the night earlier so Juhniallio’s accumulator is still alive even though they were eliminated on aggregate.
I expect Everton to win tonight but not sure if they’ll go through alright.
Everton won 2-0!!!
In extra time - some performance
