I know it’s been discussed on here before, but I’m seething at the thought.
It may be admirable that they left to fight against the Germans etc, etc. and I’m not looking for them to be prosecuted or anything, but they should be told to fuck right off with their pardon.
They broke an oath they swore to protect this country, and left it in it’s time of need.
No but they certainly shouldn’t be pardoned.
A court martial and a dishonourable discharge with no entitlement to a pension, would be a fair punishment.
No, Turenne, just court martialled for desertion the same way they would have in any other army.
As an example, the puppeteer Eugene Lambert of Wanderly Wagon fame was arrested on his way back from the continent at one of the Channel Ports in the 1980s. He was charged with desertion from the British Army during WWII. It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity and he was released after a few days, but the extraordinary thing was that the British were still tracking down deserters 40 years after the war.
I wasn’t aware we were supposed to be taking morality lessons from the British state Fagan.
Do you believe the German soldiers during WW2 that deserted for moral reasons - or selfish ones - should be punished? What about the draft dodgers during the Vietnam War? What about any deserter in any of the many immoral and genocidal wars in human history.

So comparisons to the British military shouldn’t be allowed but comparisons to US or German military should?
