National Hurling League 2012

They turned it on in Casement Park and will have every reason to give themselves a chance against their more fancied neighbours.

They must have outbid Sliotar magazine for the rights to that exclusive.

Any details on the fixture? Gaelic Grounds I assume. Does only the winner get through to the Div 1 quarters?

Casement Park is the hardest ground in Ireland to turn it on.

No they both go through with the 3 top 1A teams. One of the semi finals is on a three sided field.

Semis are slated for three weeks time. Does anyone know what the story with them is? A double header in Thurles would be attractive, no matter who comes through as the cannon fodder for Kilkenny. I trust Frankie will do his best to make sure that doesn’t happen though.

I suppose the 3 early goals killed it but I suppose you never know with Galway so I suppose we had to tip over the points in the second half I suppose…I suppose we were fairly lucky.

Full Time: Kilkenny 3-26 Galway 0-10.[/quote]

:lol::lol::lol:

I see it’s Kilkenny v Clare/Limerick in the semi

Not many gave Warfur a chance of avoiding the relegation play-off before last weekend. An achievment that is remeniscent of Wexford’s wonderful, but ultimately futile, last gasp survival last year.

I’d ignored what the new format was until now. Seems fairly bonkers to me.

Sorry SS. I have Wrestlemania on the brain. I would like to see a three sided match, in a big cage.

Double header in Thurles would be the way to go alright. With Dublin out of the picture it’ll encourage them to keep it simple.

Best league in a long time though. Drama all the way.

No worries cluain, I had assumed the little-used three sided pitch would have been the way to go.

There was action, drama and excitement all the way last year and there was more it because there were more matches, hence a better league.

Final Standings:

1A

Kilkenny - 8
Cork - 7
Tipp - 6
Waterford - 4
Galway - 4
Dublin - 1

1B

Clare - 10
Limerick - 7
Offaly - 5
Wexford - 4
Antrim - 4
Laois - 0

2A

Carlow - 9
Westmeath - 8
Derry - 5
Kerry - 4
Wicklow - 3
Down - 1

Great score by Patrick Horgan to level it at the end.

Beaut of a point from Pa Horgan to draw the Tipp game. Great goal from Lehane in that game as well. Sean Og looked like a complete liability in the second half. Pa Bourke catching puck outs off you is a bad sign.

Naughton looks a great player when the ball’s been played into space for him. Largely useless in any other situation. Cork’s passing off the hurl was excellent at times today, especially when picking out their full-forward line.
